Opaque orange with thin off-white head. Aroma of smoke, caramel, sweet malts. Taste of caramel, sweet malts and smoke with a semi-bitter peppery finish. So-so.

Nose is caramel, malt, trace of brown sugar, clear ruby, small toffee head. Tastes of roasted, almost burnt almonds, also reminds me of the taste of roasted peanut skins, smoky, caramel, sponge toffee comes to mind. Medium bodied, very well balanced, extremely bitter. Quite distinctive!

Pours a deep ruby color with a decent tan head that sticks around. Aroma is vinous and smokey. Taste has wine-like characteristics as well, along with a sweet maple syrup maltiness and a peaty earthiness. Alcohol warmth evident after the swallow. Very interesting.

Big caramelly nose, with hints of smoke, sweet malts in the aroma. Pours dark amber with a thin tan head that dissipates quickly. Toasted malts, caramelly, very nutty, with traces of smoke in the flavor. The mouth feel is extremely smooth. Very buttery creamy finish. Pretty good scotch ale.

Smell of smoke and plums. Big malty taste: burnt toast, caramel, and fried dough. Slight smoky spiciness, but quite faint. A little fruit in the aftertaste. Rich, full body.

Poured a dark golden/amber with a short lasting white head. Aroma was of strong malt with hints of toffee and a hint of smoke. Taste was dominated by a camel tasting malt(crystal) with a slight roasted flavor residing in the after-taste. Clean finish and a real pleasant beer. I think drinking this one at a warmer temperature really brings out the flavor. Real good brew. One of the most flavorful Scottish Ales I have tasted. Would buy again.

Bottle from the brewery. Dark red brown with medium tan head. Aroma is very smoky/peety, dry, subtle juniper gin, very intereting. Smoky and herbally flavor with dry caramel malt and slight alc. Medium body and hotly carbonated. This is interesting but a little too much for me.
