Flavor is very light for a brown ale, and I detect some dietcytal here as well. Below average even for a brown ale. Drinkable, but not much else going for it. vyvvy (2044), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 21, 2007 Pours clear dark copper with a dense beige head. The aroma has well toasted malt, cream and buttery diacetyl. I’ve avoided the diacetyl traits for a while & in my last batch it has been way too much of an issue. Thin body with quite a bit of prickly carbonation. The flavor starts with toasted pale malt, light bits of caramel, some astringency and some peppery spice. The finish is medicinal, astringent and sharp. An adequate beer. BustedFlat (553), Edina, Minnesota, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Apr 13, 2007 Updated: Jun 13, 2007Poured from a 16 ounce bottle into a pint glass, deep amber with a big tan head. No aroma to speak of. Taste was very smooth and not watery, but not much stands out. Perhaps a nutty flavor with a note of caramel. Lightly carbonated. Nothing special. Straight from a 16 oz bottle, pours an amber brown with a thick off-white head. The head is retained with some good lacing. Aroma is sweet, barley malt, caramel with a little roast grain. Flavor is a little watery with some hint of roasted nuts and sweet malt. A very light hoppy and grainy aftertaste. Not too much fruit per se but a nice light brown ale.
