Commercial Description:
Brewed in the northern style of an English ale. This light brown ale has a nice caramel and toasted malt flavor, combined with a fresh hoppy aroma that is slightly fruity. This is nicely complimented by a subtle bitterness that rounds out the palate.

It is a mix of mildly sweet, and a hint of hops bitterness. Its not exactly my style, but definitely an enjoyable enough brew. 4.5% alcohol is a little less than my preference, but it tastes good so I’ll just drink more to compensate for that.

Overall, I liked it. Not like most brown ales, though. More like a brown pale ale. Mirky, amber colored with a descent off white head. Nice strong malt flavor up front and some hops that keep it going. Tastes roasted and of caramel. Carbonation dies down at the end, but an overall good brew.

Today is 12-12-2K4. It’s been almost 8 years since I’ve had Sprecher Pub Ale. TRUE STORY: The last time I had it (sometime in early 1997) I drank 2 bottles of it and went to bed. I woke up in the middle of the night with a horrible case of the flu!!! Even though I was nowhere near drunk, puking up this stuff made it impossible for me to drink it ever again......UNTIL TONIGHT!!! Nice aroma, weak head that doesn’t last, rich, dark red/brown cola color, flavor that’s good, but fades much, much too quickly! Overall, it’s a fine brew, though it could be better. But to it’s credit, unlike most macro-brews, it does taste much better going down than up!

On tap at the brewery 11/26/2004 Appearance is dark red brown with a small head and some lace. The aroma is floral and malty. The flavor is bready, sweet, and some minor hops to balance. Overall, not bad.

Very dark red and brown body. A medium off white yellowish head topped this one. Nice malty aroma with oats and brown sugar. Also some apples. A very drinakable session ale. The taste is a mild borwn sugar with some bready notes. Very little hops in this sweet malty brew. Not bad.

Average...not worth buying a second time. Has some nutty flavors present as well as toasted malt but they are all pretty bland.

Pours a fairly dark amber brown color, head disappaites quickly, not a whole lot of flavor either from malt or hops, can’t say that this one is really worth the outragous prices they charge for a four pack.

Sampled at Brew Ha Ha 2004. Dark orange colored with a small white head. Caramelly and toasty malt aroma. Lightly bitter flavor. Average, average, average.
