Commercial Description:
Brewed in the northern style of an English ale. This light brown ale has a nice caramel and toasted malt flavor, combined with a fresh hoppy aroma that is slightly fruity. This is nicely complimented by a subtle bitterness that rounds out the palate.

Deep copper hue. Small off white head. Grainy malt nose. Brown sugar, toasted grain, nutty, buttery, light body, finishing with faint hops and caramel.

Bottle: So so nose, honey, apples. Clean, orange color. Little to no head. Sweet, carmel nutty taste. Kinda creamy, smooth going down. Very drinkable. Tad sweet to be a lawnmower.

Tap at Sprecher's tasting room. Light brown color, low head. The entire experience is reminisent of Newcastle, but not as nutty.

Nice brown color, but mine had no head. Mild toasty, fruity aroma, subtle roasted flavors and a little caramel sweetness. Mildly bittered. Nice session ale.

I agree with the Commercial Description except for the "subtle bitterness that rounds out the palette". Exceptionally creamy mouthfeel - very easy to drink.

This stuff smells like old butter and peanut shells. The flavor reminds me of greasy grain husks with a nice hoppy aftertaste. Mine was bottled on 8/26/03, so it's not like it's super-old. The palate was lacking because this dry sticky feeling it leaves after the swallow.

Diacytol at first waft. Some seemingly British hops, like most Bitters have in the nose. Hints of caramel under the almost-offensive butter aroma. Nice medium mouthfell, but seemingly tasteless minus some caramel and tiny hops bitterness. Oily at times in the mouth. Would guess it a Bitter. Off style, but maybe a fresher sample (buttereless) would suffice as a session beer.

This beer is good, but it does not have the same full flavor of Most of Sprecker's brews. Still, it is a nice brew.
