Commercial Description:
Brewed in the northern style of an English ale. This light brown ale has a nice caramel and toasted malt flavor, combined with a fresh hoppy aroma that is slightly fruity. This is nicely complimented by a subtle bitterness that rounds out the palate.

Dark brown pour with fluffy tan head. Aroma of malt and toffee along with a hint of dark fruit. Has a medium to light body and tastes of light caramel and lightly toasted malt (exactly what the commercial description says). I thought this was a fine brown ale. I’d find it real easy to drink a lot of these. There could be a slight bit more taste overall but still a fine beer. I’d like to try this one on tap.

Bottle. Darkish roasted carmel malt aroma. Hazy ruby brown color with a low beige head. Medium body with creamy carbonation. The flavor is roasted malt with an odd fruity/floral/herb aspect. It’s a bit sweet, and there’s not enough bitter to balance it. I’ve been through Yorkshire, and I don’t think this is it, but it’s a pretty good drink.

On tap at the brewery. Clear medium amber with creamy small off-white head. Aroma is sweet fruit, red fruit, orange, very nice, not brown ale but nice and caramel. Sweet banana, caramel, light red apple, candy sugar, a little cloying. Medium to thin body and creamy. Nice aroma but a little too sweet.

Bottled. A slightly hazy dark amber beer with a thin tan head. The aroma is sweet malty with primary notes of caramel, but also light notes of alcohol. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel, leading to a bitter and slightly dry finish. Thanks Papsoe.

(Bottle 48 cl) Courtesy of Degarth. Pours a hazy amber with a small, off-white head. Lightly burned caramel in the nose. A little thin in body with fruit and caramel accents - some overripe fruit also. Very subdued bitterness. 120108

Bottle. [Great two day tasting session @ Papsoe] Small fizzy off-white head that mostly diminished. Spare lacework. Light cloudy amber color. Aroma of light bread, grain, caramel, fruit and a hint of hops. Over the palate light feel of citrus, hint of apricot and peach. Medium bodied with a soft carbonation with a hint of dryness. Moderated sweet flavor with light bitterness. Light sweet cookie with a hint of acidic finish.

16 fl oz bottle. Pours hazy orange/brown with a diminished off-white head. Caramel malty aroma. Flavour is slight herbal, mild honey like note in a caramel malt base. Finish is light spiced but mainly persisting caramel malt.

This ale poured a nice dark red colour with a big creamy off white head. To the nose the scents included dirty hair, dough, earth??? first taste was smooth and malty with the main taste being the malt flavour. Slightly watery but yet slightly oily mouthfeel. Odd, but not bad. The palate has the smallest flavour of hopps/bitterness taste. Not bad but the smell is really odd.
