Sprecher Pub Brown Ale pours to a deep brown color with a creamy, tan head, and a soft carbonation. The nose is sweet malty, wonderfully roasty, and nutty, with mild hop aroma. The palate is soft, with pleasing sweet malt flavors, a touch of estery fruit, a hint of chocolate, nutty flavors. This beer finishes with more sweet malt flavors up front, and a slight hop bitterness to balance, but as with the nose, the hop character is mild. A very well done example of a classic sweet brown ale. I enjoyed this beer very much, and bought some very fresh bottles to bring home for later consumption. For a brewery that specializes in German lagers, you will be quite impressed with their versions of British ales. Pub Brown Ale is an excellent session beer, but would also work very well with desert. It would make the perfect foil to sticky toffee pudding, or perhaps even a German desert such as bienenstichkuchen.

This beer is great across the board. It is a the aftertaste is a tiny bit bland, but very satisfying. Keep it up Milwaukee.

Lovely! Buttery and nutty with a mild complexity that doesn’t overwhelm. Pleasant English brown ale that’s perhaps lighter colored than most. Slightly sweet and delicious with a touch of citrus complexity!

Good smooth beer. Too bad it is only in the Wisconson area.

Much better than the "average" ale that has a unique bitterness that is characteristic of it’s originality and brewing process. (I did the Sprecher tour!)

Clear but dark mahogany brown color with a small compact head of light tannish grey that turns spongy almost rocky. The cap fades away fairly quick and keeps a thin collar. Lacing is super slippery, nothing holds to the glass all that much but a few sporatic dots. Aroma is of toasted biscuits with a bit of buttery burntness, caramel, and very faint touches of a roasty nut; almond or pecan? Good taster, its pretty well rounded and smoothly handled with favorable amounts of toasty malts and sweet breads, little edges of burntness and nuts slide through now and again. Mellow and easy hoppyness with tiny additions to a floral aspect. Finishes with one very calm and slowly moving caramel sweep and an even later grassy hop nudge and return of roast. Feel is slightly creamy with a shy medium body, it starts well, but loses some of its hold at the middle and continues to slip into a mild, subtle finish while tickling some weaker dryness. Its an inticingly smooth drinker though, it may not be very heavy or thick, as most browns aren’t, but its overall smooth creamyness is very nice on the palate. Goes down with ease and the flavors sit just right. This could be the little brother to G.L. Eliot Ness.

This was a good beer. Camping made it even better.

Bottle: Sprecher Pub Ale pours amber brown with a nice big head. The head is retained throughout and there is some lacing. This is a nice ale to look at in the glass. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, with light roastiness. Flavor is pleasant sweet malt with roasted nuts. Very light hoppy dry finish. Yummy.
