Jun 27, 2007 12 oz bottle shared with willblake. Pours fairly black with a thin tan head and some lace. Aroma is sugary sweet- brown sugar, caramel and hint sof tobacco and smoke. Good chocolate malt flavor with hints of licorice, tobacco, roasted malts, light on the coffee, maple syrupy sweet and even some charred wood. Ok lasting finish- body is a bit weak.

Jun 26, 2007 Pours black with a dark brown quickly fading head. There is also some nice dark lacing. Aroma is rich malts, molasses, licorice, cocoa. Flavor is candied malts, light bourbon and smoke, roasted nuts. The body seemed juuust a tad thin. That is my only real knock on this one. Very impressed overall.

Jun 23, 2007 Jet black color. Head is tannish and rapidly disappears, bummer. Aroma is muted, some brown sugar and slight roasted aromas peak through. Subtle. Flavor is light and and subdued. Finishes with some bitterness and some dried fruit flavors. Decent, but not inspiring

Jun 21, 2007 16 ounce bottle. Snifter. Black with a dark brown head. Aroma was of sweet malt and chocolate. Taste was sweet with notes of coffee and cream, chocolate and roast malt. I was pleasantly surprised with this one.

Jun 10, 2007 Bottle from Ryan. Thanks. I really like these 16 oz bottles, especially for snifter beers. I dont know why. Pours out a thick black color with a tan head on it. Smell is roasted and full of chocolate flavors as well as some coffee. Taste is thick and rich, not too sweet, but it has a nice chocolate and roasted flavor to it. Pretty good stuff, I would say its a tad underrated, but I am biased towards stouts.

Jun 4, 2007 Pours dark brownish black with a rich tan head. The aroma is slightly roasted with a touch of dark fruit. Flavor is moderate with a bit of licorice and fruit and a slight roasted finish.

May 26, 2007 Smells grassy, like it’s not quite done. It tastes good, but with a noticeable alcohol flavor. I can’t find anything to rave about.It’s not bad. It’s just not special.

May 24, 2007 Overated!!! Smells like ethonal; not a good start. Pours a dark black and on the first sip it taste sweet and slighly chalky; not bad, but it gets worse from there. There’s a peculiar metalic like taste and the warmer it gets the more you taste the alcohol and chalk. Not a a good beer whatsoever.
