Pours a suitably sinister opaque dark brown/black with reddish tones. Thinnish saddle-soap-colored head forms on pour that leaves decent rings of lacing. Aroma is big on toffee, caramel, some coffee, and soothing alchol. Flavor is toffee and coffee up front with bitter dry grain following, and then a bit of what seems like lactose. Nice full-bodied mouthfeel with a thick chunky palate. Doesn’t rate well as an imperial stout -- seemed more like a good solid porter or even a sweet stout.

Whomever wrote the description for this got their notes mixed up with another brew because this brew really sucked. Nasty taste,sour,thinbullshit -ass brew. Lickily I bought a few of them and after dumping the first 2, I tossed the other 2 out.

Roommate brought this back from WI. Pours with a huge head that quickly dissipates to a thin brown ring. Black as night, completely opaque, nice chocolate malty, nutty taste. Has a nice long warm finish. Great mouthfeel to it. If only this beer were available in Detroit...hint, hint.

Courtesy of Goldtwins <P> Strong aroma of raisin, dates, dark chocolate and cocoa. Deep black with a quickly receding mocha head. Fore is full of sweet stewed raisins, cramel malts, heavily sweetened and creamed coffee, lots of nutty notes and more dark fruits in the finish. More baltic porter/schwarzbier tasting than Imperial Stout, but very tasty.

Pours like reduced molasses. Tastes like coffee/toffee/chocolate/raisins/dates/nuts/burnt brown sugar/and roasted malt. Mouthfeel like sinuous liquid Texas tea, black gold...oil, that is! Wonderful!

This poured a small sized head of fine to large sized mostly lasting brown colored bubbles that left behind an excellent lacing. The body contained no visible carbonation, was opaque and black in color. Its aroma contained notes of mild vinous dark malt mild coffee mild roasted malt . Its mouth feel is initially tingly biting malt with a lingering slightly tingly vinous palate and a smooth aftertaste. Its flavor contained coffee vinuous dark beer brown malts notes and was very tasty. An excellent beer that I would buy again.

Bottle courtesy of StewardofGondor. Pours oily black with only a ring of bubbles. Aroma and flavor very muted. Aroma has some malt sweetness and that’s it. Flavor seems a little oxidized, only a tiny bit of chocolate and nothing else. A little sourness in the finish.

Pours with a black body. The head is light brown and large. The aroma is deep with chocolate and old coffee. There is also some vanilla and cherries. The taste has some dark chocolate and cherries. There is also some light roasted coffee. A little more fruit and less roast than other imperial stouts I have had, but I like the change. A medium mouthfeel that is a little sticky. Nicely done.
