Creamy Mouthfeel...Nice Balanced Malt and Coffee Roast Background...Sweet Caramel Works Wonderful with the Creamy Feel Down Your Throat. Alcohol Warming Not Noticeable. Definitlly Not a Bad Boy Impy, But Makes Up For it In Balance and Drinkability. Very Nice. GrainBeltGuzzler (249), Goodhue, Minnesota, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 30, 2005 had this right after their irish stout and I can already see this will be a step up from the pour. although the head disapaites quickly to a film along the edge of the glass. richer smoother and thicker than the irish, a nice smooth hint of carmel and chocolate. probably not the best imperial stout out there, but this is a pretty solid beer which I wouldn’t hesitate to someone starting out in darker beers goldtwins (4084), Nesconset, New York, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 25, 2005 Poured black with a large tan head. Roasted malt aroma didn’t seem to lean in any one direction for particular aromas. Flavors of roasted malt, coffee, and a tangy finish. Medium bodied but seemed thin on flavor. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 24, 2005 Very roasty in smell and in flavor. Light sweetness and some powdered chocolate. Mild hop finish with bitter coffee. Should end with more of a bang for this type. richlikebeer (832), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA

I had listed that it was my favorite stout to date - well, it’s still a good stout, but recent tastings have demoted it ever so slightly. Nevertheless, the review...
Thick ass pour, slowly falling out of the bottle when fresh. Older bottles have been thinner in viscosity. Black mud appearance with a small, tan head. Hops contribute to the aroma, as well as some floral nodes and roasted malt. Mostly thick feel on the palate. Very flavorful. Smooth, rich, chocolatey characteristics. Can’t pick up a trace of alcohol. Most likely the best beer I’ve ever had from Sprecher. erod61 (31), Bangor WI, Wisconsin, USA
