| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 28, 2004 Reminded me more of an English style ale than a german bock. Earthy hop flavor, well balanced brew. Some roasted malt flavor. howie (549), DeForest, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Apr 20, 2004 Looks great; dense, lasting head over a brilliant dark brown body. Octoberfest-like spicy malty aromas and flavors. A little over carbonated, which makes it hard to reach the flavors... thedm (3836), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 26, 2004 This bottled brew poured a large sized head of foamy finely sized mostly lasting light brown colored bubbles that left behind a minimal lacing. The body was softly carbonated dark ruby red brown colored and semi-opaque. The aroma contained notes of dark malt and caramel. I liked the aroma a lot as it was very pleasant and very nice on the nose. The mouth feel was tingly and of medium thickness and a mild dark malt aftertaste. The flavor was that of dark malts mild chocolate in a medium body. A very nice well rounded beer. hotstuff (3175), Indiana, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 19, 2004 Bottle. This beer formed a small sized ivory head that was creamy and smooth and contained fine-small sized bubbles that mostly diminished. The body was carbonated and opaque with a reddish brown hue. The nose of this beer was malty, caramel and sweet. All I could get from the flavor was malt. The mouthfeel was slightly tingly and smooth. This was a medium bodied beer with fair lacing. heemer77 (4304), Savannah, Missouri, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Feb 20, 2004 In the bottle. Very close to the 120 day limit printed on the bottle. Very little head and a nice dark color. Little carbonation. Caramel and malt in the aroma. Taste has malt, grass, wheat and a little toffee. I didn't catch the spiciness that has been mentioned. My first from this brewer, I will have to try more. badgerben (3603), Blaine, Minnesota, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 17, 2004 Tap at Sprecher's tasting room. Very black color with a white head. Lots and lots of roasted malty goodness. It took some time, but I finally determined it has a very Grape Nuts taste to it. Some may find that repulsive, but I find it goes very nice as a winter warmer. BBB63 (4232), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Feb 15, 2004 Brown with ruby highlights, small tan head and minimal lace. The aroma hint of caramelized malts, light sweet spice, floral hops and dried orange peel. The taste starts malty and heavy, a bit of bitterness is found midsection and continues towards the end. A touch fruity and spicy but mostly hidden beneath the layers of malt. This medium bodied brew has a soft and dry mouthfeel. Just your average bock.
