This is a tasty Dunkel! Pours from the bottle a dark brownish-red, with a large but shortlived head and no lace. Aroma of fruit and roasted caramel. Tastes spicy, with some soy sauce and malty caramel. Strong body, and would be very good in the winter. Was plenty tasty on a damnably hot August night in a bar outside Fond du Lac.

Tasted 7/19/2007. 16oz bottle. Dark brown ruby hue. Ring of beige head, Yeasty caramel cocoa aromas. :Medium bodied with cocoa malts and citrus finish. Berries and bitter coffee flavors. Smokey acidic flavors. Notes of anise and chocolate. Cereal malts. Mild effervescence. Good chalky lager style. Tasty.

Poured dark brown with reddish hints to it. Aroma was of maltienss, dark fruits, a caramel sweetness. Flavor was allright with a lot of maltiness and maybe a tad of alcohol. Not to bad considering I havent been a fan of the sprecher i have had in the past.

16 oz bottle. Poured a ruby-brown color. Head was thick and light tan with good retention and lacing. Aroma is of black pepper, subdued soy sauce, and light smoky malt. My nose wondered if they used a bit of peated malt in this one? Full bodied and slightly sweet on the tongue. I tasted some malty caramel, subdued soy, and dried fruits. My tongue says no peated malt. Pretty good beer.

A fresh bottle from the brewery’s gift shop. Pours a dark shiney brown with some red highlights. A nice thick off white head with some lacing, not much. Aroma is sweet, caramel and some sweet malt. A little doughnutty. Taste is more fruity, kind of a hybrid of Octoberfest and dopplebock. A slight bitter aftertaste but palate is a little thin.

Dark brown, clear, with a good sized but short-lived tan head. Aroma is fairly sweet, with some melanoid malt, cocoa. Flavor is nicely sweet, quite malty, with a bit of caramel, melanoid, chocolate, though a bit thin.

Tried thanks to skyview. I think this brew is about a year old. Pours a nice reddish brown, with a light tan head. Nice toasted nut nose with hints of sweet chocoalte and toffee. Nice sweet l=flavor with hints of an almost leather or horse barn like earthiness. A nice beer, but not spectacular.

Pours a beautiful mahogany red with a tan head, mostly dissipating. Aroma is not pronounced. Creamy soft on the palate, the taste is mostly of dark roasted malt, mild, not bitter. Nice aftertaste. A pleasant beer but not the best that Sprecher has to offer.
