Dark brown. Big burly aroma is very appetizing. Nice bready taste, with hints of chocolate in the relatively dry finish. Slightly fizzier than I would like but overall this is tasty.

Deep brown body with a big, creamy tan head. Aroma is sweet caramel, some chocolate and light raisin. Taste is medium sweet, caramel, some chocolate, light raisin, finishing roasty but slightly astringent. Medium-full body.

16oz bottle acquired in multiple trades. Poured a deeper mahogany color wiht an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of caramel, roast, light chocolate, toffee, and licorice. Tastes of toffee (reminded me of those hard toffee candies), roast, nuts, and light chocolate. Lively body.

A delectable winter treat with a wonderfully sweet taste and great mouthfeel. I await next winter...Re-rate: Ok, it’s next winter, and I don’t quite know what I was waiting for. This didn’t quite taste as I remembered it a year ago. That was also when I started rating beers and the original rating of 4.2 just doesn’t cut it. This beer has a pleasant caramel aroma, but an earthy mouthfeel and a stale grainy flavor. The finish is cloyingly bitter but does have some subtle chocolate undertones. Not one of Sprecher’s best.

Bottle... This beer rocks!... The nose contains toasted malt, yeast, freshly baked dark bread, caramel and citrusy hops. This beautiful beer has a sparkling clear, dark ruby hue with a medium-sized, creamy khaki-colored head. Mostly diminishing with minimal lacework. Rich and malty flavor up front with bursts of caramel and light molasses. Perfectly balanced with a citrusy hop presence on the backside. Medium-bodied with a silky mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Lengthy, lightly bitter, crisp dry finish. This is a MaltHeads wet dream. Great Bock! With an average RateBeer Score of under 3.5 out of 5, I think this beer is way underrated. Thanks go out to RainDog for this gem.

Beautiful blackish color with a touch of redness. Strong rasted malt aroma with a hint of sweetness. Makes a really great mouth-feel, deep and rich with a hint of sweetness. Heavy aftertaste, but a good one at that.

Dark chestnut with a light tan smallish head. Grainy and earthy aromas. Flavors of brown sugar, and molassas, fairly unbalanced and underdeveloped. Just OK.
