Commercial Description:
Mueller Anniversary Ale is brewed to celebrate our fifth anniversary. This barleywine-style ale uses an original blend of the finest English floor-malted barley, Challenger hops for bittering and East Kent Golding hops for their delicate, piney aroma. A portion of this fine ale is aged in Missouri oak barrels for added richness and balance to create a distinctive ale that is uniquely Mueller.

GABF 2004: Light copper color with a lacey white head. Aroma hints at strawberry candy and fresh hops. Starts with a nice candy malty sweetness and some light fruit complexity. Full bodied and well balanced, but has some different flavors from what I’m used to in a barleywine. Still hides its alcohol well and is a unique and good beer.

This is not a normal barleywine - slightly sweet, but very earthy and piney and metallic - also thinner and very very easier drinking than most BWs. Warms up to a super smooth and not AT ALL 10% brew - not thin from the alcohol and not cloying from the sweetness of the malt. Wonderful and thanks to Indra for this rare treat.

Deep rich wood color - like that ancient but well cared for chiffarobe in a classy antique shop. This is the highlight of a really mediocre microbrewery and it is very, very good. Excellent balance between plumlike fruitier tones and spice and nut action. It's six dollars a bottle and well worth it, if only becuase it's an excellent brew among lackluster entries

This beer rocks!... Clear mahogany ale with a small, white, fizzy head. Lasting, stratus wisps of head float atop the brew throughout the tasting. The nose is of orange blossom honey, fig, caramel and evergreen. Caramel, toffee and pineapple in the flavor. Well-balanced by the hops and alcohol. Full-bodied with a syrupy mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Great brew!

Intriguing aroma, with caramel-drenched cinnamon rolls, lightly perfumed flowers, nutmeg, faint berry and apple fruitiness, butterscotch, prickly pine needles, a slight earthiness as it warms and wafts of alcoholic vapor. The reddish-orange of a California sunset, lightly hazy with a quick-settling head. Flavor profile is buttery, toffeeish, sugary sweet, and lightly nutty with a generous dosage of spicy hop flavors and bitterness. Finishes strongly with fruit and more evident alcohol. Sends a pleasant warmth coursing through one's veins. Excellently done.
