12oz bottle poured in a shaker. I picked a six pack of this up at the brewery over the summer. I’ve been drinking it slowly over the last few months. The bartender was rude & unaccomdating. I did not not think the brewery was very special. When I tried this stout the first time I thought it was pretty run of the mill. The more I drink it though, the more I realize that this is an excellent beer. This is a world-class stout! It pours very dark brown with an off-white fluffy head. It has an aroma of chocoloate and wood smoke. The body is a little thinner than expected in a stout. It nearly has a porter body but not quite. The flavor consists of baker’s chocolate, peat smoke and a faint hint of licorice. The after-taste is strong and persisent and is mostly hop tingle and smoke.

On tap at the brewery. Served in a footed glass. Very dark brown with short thick dark tan head. Head dissipates slowly leaving a lot of lacing. Smell is mostly of heavily roasted malt, with some chocolate. Flavor is dry at first but as it warms tastes more chocolaty. Very good beer. Coates the mouth well.

(Tap) Pours black with a tan head. Malty aroma, with sweet toffee and dark chocolate notes. Dry and slightly dusty character. A good stout, but lacking in the palate that would make this an exceptional beer.

Wow. Quite the surprise. Pours a completely opaque black, huge head, tons of lacing. Aroma is hugely malty (like Expedition, only not quite), lots of roasty and chocolate notes. Flavor begins very malty and dry, giving way to sweet chocolate, then coffee, and an intensely dry, grassy finish, warm alcohol. This brewery excels at the darker styles (as they call them, "Black Sheep"), and this is clearly no exception. Totally worth the 200+ mile drive. Excellent beer.
