krysztofar (267), belleville, Illinois, USA Oct 27, 2007 draft at the brewpub. deep bronzey color is darker than expected. fluffy eggshell head dies fast. big hop presence. lots of pine and good bitterness. malts are supportive and mildly toasty. medium body. lasting bitter finish. sneagrams3 (1453), St. Louis, Missouri, USA Nov 17, 2006 Sampled from the brewpub a while ago, but just came across my notes. Filtered with a toffee brown hue. Off white head. Strong citrusy hop nose. Piney aromas. Medium bodied. Layered hop flavors with hints of citrus and soapy hops. Medium malt roast. Hop dominant. Nice spectrum of hop profiles. xmarcnolanx (680), Kirkwood, Missouri, USA Nov 5, 2006 A decent IPA. A little bit of pine. A decent malt backbone. Not a bad beer. The hops are kind of all over the place with this beer, floral, piney and grapefruity. Tastes like they just threw in a bunch of hops. vyvvy (1756), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA Nov 3, 2006 Sampled at the brewpub. Interesting that there were two different IPAs on tap at the same time. Poured deep orange with minimal head. Aroma is muddled rich malt with some floral / grapefruit hop aroma. Medium / full body with little carbonation. Starts with a full malt taste that is a bit musty and rich. Then some floral hops come in and take over. The finish has more grapefruit hop traits, but still some floral and bits of pine. A good IPA, but certainly not a home run.
