rederic (1444), montréal, Quebec, Canada Apr 30, 2008 Deep black color, with a tan-colored head, faint roasted malt nose, with a subtle black coffee bean roasty accent, and a hint of dark bitter chocolate in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a sweet toasty, roasted malt, black coffee character, with a faint mochaish, dark chocolatey accent, a note of mild flowery hop grassiness, leading towards a roasty, lingering hop bitterness finish.
heemer77 (3781), Savannah, Missouri, USA Jun 8, 2008 On tap at the brewpub. The body was black with a khaki head. The aroma was roasted with some milk chocolate and good tobacco. The taste was coffee with some strong roast and peanuts. This was decent but lots of roast character with littel else going on. esjaygee (808), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA May 28, 2008 Draught at Square One brewpub. Dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel and mild coffee. Taste is more of the same. Lively carbonation feel with a spicy hop finish that’s a bit peppery. SkyinBrian (403), Collinsville, Illinois, USA May 18, 2008 This one was definately over the top hoppy. actually, even a bit too much for this hop head. Also had a bit too much carbonation. Once it warmed a bit (was serve too cold IMO) it got a little better. Still, I wasn’t expecting something this overly hoppy (and I had just finished their more than servicable IPA). OH well, other than that it was okay. kwoeltje (1222), Manchester, Missouri, USA Jun 5, 2007 (draught at the brewpub) Black with small tan head. Roast malt aroma. Flavor was strong cold coffee, some malt and a hint of hops.
