red éric (1379), montréal, Quebec, Canada Apr 23, 2008 On tap at the brewery, slight cloudy blonde hue, with an off-white head, but leaving a ring of lace, yeasty, spicy coriander, gingerbread, lemongrass nose, with some honeyed pale malts, with some citrus, grapefruit accents, quite spicy aroma for a belgian ale, follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a yeasty, spicy, spritzy character of ginger, lemongrass, with some lemon zesty peel accent, with a hint of flowery hop citrusy, some sweet honeyed pale malts, leading towards a citrus acidic finish.
BeerandBlues2 (2451), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Jul 22, 2008 Draught at Square One. Pours hazy light yellow with a small, frothy, white head, mostly lasting with good lacing. Aroma is average malt (grain, hay, straw), light hops (flowers, herbs, lemon), average yeast (earth) with notes of pepper and ginger. Light bodied, thin texture, average carbonation, and a chalky finish. Average duration, light sweetness, acidity, and bitterness. esjaygee (721), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA May 28, 2008 Draught at Square One brewpub. Pale unfiltered yellow with no head. Aroma of lemon and grassy hops, perhaps in union as lemongrass. Taste of lemon, grassy hops and mild ginger. Smooth body with a tangy dry finish. Mildly sweet and definitely interesting. Ughsmash (2958), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Aug 30, 2007 On tap at Square One. Poured clear bright golden with a short cap of white head. Aroma picked up sweet pale malts and spicy lighter fruits.. pepper and an eclectic blend of spices represented. Flavor was an OK blend of sweet pale and light fruity malts with heavy spices.. transitions were not so good in there.. rather refreshing at the end, though. Creamy at first on the palate with heavy peppery spices hitting quickly thereafter.. higher carbonation and a long spicy finish. OK. krysztofar (267), belleville, Illinois, USA Aug 29, 2007 draft @ the brewpub. happy birthday kendra! pale golden color with a short frothy white head. very pronounced aroma of lemon and ginger. the is a different take on a belgian style for sure. heavy doses of ginger and lemon grass provide an interesting citric and spicy counterpoint to this ale’s sweetness. palate is smooth and moderately full bodied. fu and fresh take on the style.
