Commercial Description:
An "Oud Bruin", also known as Flanders brown style ale, originating from the Flemish region of Belgium. A medium bodied, reddish-brown ale with a gentle malty flavor and no hop bitterness. The aroma is a complex mixture of fruits and estery smells of plums, raisins and cherry. Both Brettanomyces yeast and red tart cherries were used in fermentation to create authentic sour Belgian farmhouse ale with cherry accents. Aged for 7 months in a used bourbon barrel to inspire further Brettanomyces and micro-flora fermentation. YOU MUST ENJOY SOUR BEER TO ORDER THIS UNIQUE BELGIAN-STYLE ALE.

GABF 2007. A hazy pale golden beer with a thin orangey head. The aroma is acidic brettanomyces-like with notes of berries as well as light notes of wood. The flavor is lovey acidic - that draws out the mouthwater with light notes of cherries. Nice.

Poured on tap a clear ruby brown with a nice finger of off-white foam. The nose is of tart cherry skins and bready malts. The taste starts acerbicly sharp, with a cherry dryness. Minor caramel notes come next. The end has a slight "oakiness" which mellows the sour finish. A nice interpretation of the style.

Draught. An awesome rendition of the classic Belgian Farmhouse! Served in a snifter. Very nice golden/copper colour. Very nice tart aroma. Palate was sour/fruity. Very good brew!

On draft at the Brewpub downtown; Nose of tart cherries and light funkiness; reddish-brown with virtually no head, just a few bubbles around the edges;flavor of cherries, tartness, some oak woodiness, spices, and caramel. Kind of a less funky Supplication.
