Mug @ brewpub in SLC
Appearance: dark brown with a tan head and lots of lace left in the glass
Aroma: roasted malt with some nuts
Taste: roasted malt with some hop bitterness. A hint of smokiness finishes this beer out nicely.
This is a very good Schwartzbier.

GABF 2005. Pours a nice woody black with a good head. Aroma is light nutty and hints of roast- light chocolate- a bit of tar and dark fruits earthy hops. Medium crystal malt sweetness, light toast upfront hints of nuts and chocolate- then everything fades and becomes a bit bland and weak in the end. Meh.

On tap at the downtown brewpub in Salt Lake City, Utah. Pours a beautiful dark reddish brown hue with a huge light brown head. The aroma is full of roasted malts and some light fruit. The flavor was excellent; tons of malt here, roasted and full. A nice fruity flavor, sweet but not too sweet. Some light hops and a very nice full and creamy mouthfeel round it out. Just an excellent beer. I wish this was bottled so I could ship some out. Squatters kicks ass.

Draft pint at the brewpub. It’s schwarz alright! This is a beauty with a full, sticky head. Sweet malty aroma. Nice tight black malt flavors ... solid, solid malt with a nice little Teutonic hop bite to finish it off. Among the better Schwarz’s I’ve head in a while, think this would go toe-to-toe with Kostritzer. (#2791, 4/12/2007)

GABF 2002: Not bad. SLightly roasted. Damn good for Squatters.
