Bottle. Sweet candy aroma to this one. Black body with tan head. Just an average Porter flavor to me. Not much like a stout. Did have a coffee aftertaste on the palate, but where was that in flavor of beer.

On tap @ brewpub. Not a bad stout...dark brown pour bordering black with creamy eggshell head and a significant amount of lacing left on the inside of the glass. More coffee than cocoa on the nose and flavor is somewhat muddled and lactic. Not aggressive but highly drinkable. Average.

On tap at the Salt Lake City Airport Location as part of the sampler. Dark black pour, khaki colored head. Sweet, chocolate aroma with a hint of coffee. Flavor has some of the same black coffee notes, a it of licorice and a hint of black dirt. Nice, chalky mouthfeel. Would have grabbed a pint of this had my flight to Honolulu not been ready to take off.

The aroma had an awesome coffee and chocolate presence, the appearance was black with a nice tan head. Flavor was a rich chocolate and coffee with a bit of roastiness that is not overwhelming. The palate was a bit weak but very smooth and a light carb. Overall the biggest detractor is the palate, otherwise an awesome beer, a new favorite of mine.

Draft. Deep brown body with tan/brown head. The aroma is roasty with notes of coffee and chocolate. Some hint of sweet milk. The flavor was moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finished lightly sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, creamy texture and moderate carbonation. Flavorful oatmeal stout that’s easy to drink. Nicely crafted for a relatively low-alcohol beer.

Bottle poured a translucent dark brown nearly black with a lingering brown head. Aromas of bitter chocolate, roasted malt, licorice and light coffee. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth with a watery finish. Flavors of roasted malt, bitter chocolate, coffee and light licorice with a smooth watery lingering roasty finish.

This is one bastard of a stout! The roasted malt flavors are in your face, and it’s accompanied by deep chocolate & toffee notes. Hops are there, but you don’t notice and... probably don’t care when ordering this beer. Enjoy this roasted malt monster for dessert or as a nightcap.

rather porter-esque colored ruby brown with a small tan head. it smells a bit smoky... along with notes of dusty oats, licorice, roast and chocolate milk. the flavor mimics the aroma... it kinda tastes like the time i mixed alka seltzer into my coffee.... a bit nutty and dusty with a slightly tart finish. coffee lingers in the aftertaste. the body is on the lighter side of medium due to the abundance of prickly carbonation. as it disappears the palate is left rather flat and dead. 6/6/6/3/12/3.0
