Commercial Description:
A bourbon barrel aged vanilla Porter on nitro. Our Brewmaster Jenny Talley hand shucked whole vanilla beans and soaked them in the aging porter for one week until the black patent & chocolate malts balanced superbly against the delicate flavors from the vanilla beans. This beer goes perfectly with our Chocolate Decadence Cake, as well as our BBQ Ribs and BBQ Chicken Pizza.

On tap at Squatter’s, Salt Lake City. Served on nitro, so came with a giant creamy nitro head that looked beautiful. Aroma is primarily creamed coffee with perhaps a hint of vanilla under that thick, aroma-blocking head. First impression is the fantastic velvety mouthfeel, though as the nitro wanes, the palate does get considerably thinner. Light roast, moderate coffee and chocolate flavor, vanilla sweetness is there but very subdued. Actually, any stronger and the vanilla would likely drown out a lot of the porter characteristics. Solid.

On tap at the SLC brewpub. A new beer from Squatters! Pours a dark brown with a thick nitro head. The aroma is mostly nutty, with a roasted malt and light vanilla aromas. The flavor is dominated by a fairly dry malt, with a sweetness and lots of vanilla coming through. A little bourbon and woody tastes also. This is a Vanilla Bourbon aged Porter, and is really nice. Squatters keep these new beers coming.
