Commercial Description:
This medium-bodied, American style, unfiltered wheat beer is brewed with a special Alt Bier yeast. That creates subtle citrus flavors that balance perfectly with the aroma and bitterness of Tettnanger hops and the delicate flavor of the malted wheat. Serve Squatters American Wheat with a lemon wedge for a refreshing treat. 4.0% alcohol by volume. • 2008 Gold Medal, American Wheat, North American Brewers’ Association

My wife bought this at the airport while we were on a long layover back to Mpls from our trip to Vegas. Clove takes the center stage here, less banana. One finger head and a hazy orange body. Light bodied. I preferred the Wasatch example. Pretty weak.

Opaque pale yellow. Smooth, soft, light and creamy texture. Light body. Yeasty, doughy and earthy. Nice hop zing, with yeast esters and lemon. Balanced bitterness. Not overly exciting yet refreshing.

On tap at the Salt Lake City Airport Location as part of the sampler. Slightly murky dark yellow appearance. Slight white head. Hint of clove in the aroma. Some dull banana and bubble gum, but not very hefe-like. Not one for the ages.

Bottle poured a cloudy tarnished gold with a lasting off white head. Aromas of wheat, yeast, citrus and light clove. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of wheat, yeast and light citrus with a crisp dry finish.

On tap at SLC location. Was a dull color with a smallish head. Aroma of wet malt, yeast, banana and lemon. Flavor of lemon, wheat, and a bit of spice. Quite solid for the style; and this was much better than expected.

On tap at the Squatters Airport Pub, Salt Lake City Int’l Airport. Hazy orangish yellow with a small, bright white head. Faint lemon peel nose with hint of white pepper. Sourdough and lemon flavor, sourness is fairly high with a lot of wet hay and straw. Sour, grainy and abrasive finish.

Draft sample at Salt Lake airport pub. Poured a hazy yellow color with a moderate fizzy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate spicy citrus & wheat aroma. Light to medium body with a small sticky texture. Medium sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Drinkable soft brew.
