Squatters Hop Head Red

Drank at the downtown brewpub in Salt Lake City. Pours a dark amber color with a thick grey/white color head. The aroma was full of hops, both pine and citrus. The taste was mostly a rich caramel malt, which was lightly toasted and a light hop flavor. A very nice and easygoing beer.

Nitro pint at Sqautters in SLC airport. Muddy dark reddish brown colored body with a dark tan head. Very strangely hopped nose, hugely pungent cherry and cedar and pineapple scented hops, but muddled throughout. Notes of chocolate cake and roast integrate much like a turd in a punchbowl. Hoppy, bitter, messy and overdone, a messy clash of flavors. What the hell are they doing out in Utah?

On the nitro tap ... very dark opaque red with a poofy head. It has a dirty-sock aroma. The taste was mildly hoppy, but the beer is a bit watery.

Not red at all, more of a deep yellow-orange. Mildly hoppy aroma. Bitter at first with a Caffery’s-type flavour (mild).
