Commercial Description:
Behind its magnificent ruby-red colour, St. Ambroise Raspberry Ale reveals its refreshing charm from the moment you encounter its bouquet and flavour. Made with fresh raspberries and choice sun-ripened hops, it gently engages your tastebuds in a delicious explosion of flavours. Its delicate fruit aromas marry perfectly with the pleasant hop character typical of all St-Ambroise ales. Brewed in Quebec, just once a year, it's a unique summertime treat.

A "pretty" beer but lacking a little in the substance category. Sweet raspberry flavor gets a little heady towards the bottom of the glass.

(Bottle) Obtained via a trade with Goldorak. Pours a medium, frothy off-white head with a deep ruby-orange body. Head settles nicely along the sides of the glass. Nose of raspberry jam and seed. Flavour is nicely tart and raw, the raspberry flavour is sweet upfront than steadily changes to a tart seedy raspberry. Very enjoyable. This should be a winter beer.

Darker reddish brown, moderate head with good lacing and retention. Aroma is raspberry syrup with some caramelly malts. Fairly bland other than a sweet fruity flavor. Can definitely taste those ’ripened’ hops though... haha. Not terrible, but far from great.

This raspberry ale poured a deep reddish orange colour with a bright white rocky head. to the nose there was scents of hopps, raspberries, jam and wine. First taste isn’t as bad as I expected with strong but not overpowering flavours of raspberries. Not much of anything else in the flavour and the finish is bubbly with a little extra carbonation. The palate is raspberries but quick to finish to nothing???

Aroma is a sweet raspberry (as expected). Pours with a slightly pink tinge. Flavour is undeniably raspberry, but the tartness of the raspberry mixes a bit confusingly with the bitterness of the beer. Overall, not a bad summer beer, but for a fruit beer, would prefer a more champagne-like feel and taste like Mort Subite.

Hazy deep caramel apple/rustic amber with raspberry puree hues. A thin creamy head is very stable. The nose is terribly obnoxious, as soon as the cap flies off the bottle. Sweet raspberry nectar and sugers pile out of the glass in overdrive. It’s offensive solely due to the fact that no matter how far away from the glass I am, the smell is still present. With my nose buried in the glass for a brave whiff the entirety of the aroma is not at all unpleasant and has a moderate and likeable hoppiness that actually derails the forcefulness of the raspberry and strives toward balance. This is strange indeed. The flavor is full of plasticized raspberry skin notes and mild bitterness from evident hops. Acidity is mild to medium and astringency is far too potent. The mouthfeel is well carbonated and seems smooth at first but gets stuck in the throat. The finish is full of raspberry and artificial sweetener, drying and astringent, mildly musty. Nothing seems inherently old about this beer and in fact it’s well before the stated "best by" date, but it is bordering on undrinkable. A dissapointing beer.

Poured a murky ruby, brown. Aroma is redolent of raspberry liquer, maybe even that of the filled raspberry candies you find at Christmas. An odd mustiness is present that detracts. The flavor is almost devoid of any raspberry quality, but is not without merit. In fact, it is toasty with a bit of balancing acidity. Though it is only marginally better. Not my cup of tea.

341ml bottle. Thick pink foam head, mild carbonation and dark maroon in colour. No mistaking the raspberry in the aroma, overpowering everything else that might be in there. Taste is more complex, starting off very sweet but transitions into mild sweet malts with a tart, subtle hoppy finish. Mouthfeel is full and creamy due to the carbonation. Not a bad summer beer.
