Commercial Description:
Behind its magnificent ruby-red colour, St. Ambroise Raspberry Ale reveals its refreshing charm from the moment you encounter its bouquet and flavour. Made with fresh raspberries and choice sun-ripened hops, it gently engages your tastebuds in a delicious explosion of flavours. Its delicate fruit aromas marry perfectly with the pleasant hop character typical of all St-Ambroise ales. Brewed in Quebec, just once a year, it's a unique summertime treat.

341 ml bottle - pours a muddy brown with red highlights and a pinkish head. Aroma is all framboises, but REAL raspberries, not extract. It has that slight earthiness that actual raspberry juice has. The flavour is strange.....the raspberry is less potent than in the aroma. There is also some hop presence, but that is kind of overshadowed by the raspberry. Abrupt finish. A good fruit beer, certainly one of the better ones I’ve tasted.

341ml Bottle in a Sexy Tube: What tremendous packaging, you almost can’t help but purchase it! They figured out a way to make me buy another fruit beer after having swore off them. The pour was cloudy and a pinkish-red, low level of foamy head. The aroma is heavy in raspberry, which is good, with hints of yeast and some spicy elements. All downhill from here - this is heavily carbonated and thick in berries. I’d hoped they’d treat it more like their Apricot Wheat with some subtle fruit and decent hopping, but instead the fruit is more at the forefront with little to find elsewhere. Not my thing.

This raspberry ale poured a deep reddish orange colour with a bright white rocky head. to the nose there was scents of hopps, raspberries, jam and wine. First taste isn’t as bad as I expected with strong but not overpowering flavours of raspberries. Not much of anything else in the flavour and the finish is bubbly with a little extra carbonation. The palate is raspberries but quick to finish to nothing???

Bottle. This is dark red colour in the glass with a pinkish head. There is plenty of raspberry in the aroma, a strong hit of yeast, some other fruits: apple? The flavour is not as interesting: raspberry, sugar, some water leading to a dry finish.

Thinner than I expected. Raspberry undertones, some sour notes. Liking it more and more with each sip.

Gorgeous tube packaging, 5% a/v from the LCBO Pours a very deep ruby red colour with a nice pink head. The nose is obviously raspberry but also some other berry scent too. The taste is just fantastic with a nice raspberry jam flavour (trust me, it works better then it sounds) with a nice light body and a great palate with an excellently long reminder of the sweet beer you’ve just drank. Ive always liked St Ambroise and this is definetly the best raspberry beer Ive ever had.

Held up to the light it’s a deep red, with a tall frothy head. Aroma is strong but pleasant raspberry. Smooth feel with a tart berry finish. The best fruit beer I’ve had to date.

A nice package and not a whole lot of raspberries and yes it was a unique summer ( okay fall ) time treat. Page 290 of Michael Jackson’s Great Beer Guide and only 199 of his 500 Classic Brews to go.
