Commercial Description:
Behind its magnificent ruby-red colour, St. Ambroise Raspberry Ale reveals its refreshing charm from the moment you encounter its bouquet and flavour. Made with fresh raspberries and choice sun-ripened hops, it gently engages your tastebuds in a delicious explosion of flavours. Its delicate fruit aromas marry perfectly with the pleasant hop character typical of all St-Ambroise ales. Brewed in Quebec, just once a year, it's a unique summertime treat.

Pours a watery red with no head & some minimal lacing. Aroma is leafy raspberry, very thin and green. Tastes equally watery and thin, bitter and tea-like, more like it was made from the leaves of a raspberry plant than the actual berries themselves. Thin with passable carb. Weak and uninteresting.

[1239-20080330] 341mL bottle. Strong tart raspberry cordial aroma with thick syrup wet wood notes. Slightly hazy, dark red wine body with a medium-lasting foamy light pink head. Bitter raspberry brambles flavour. Medium body. Interesting but brash and unrefined.

12 oz bottle in a nice external container (probably why I bought it). Pours a doughy hazy dull reddish with a violet hint and thin diminsihing head. Aroma is initially very juicy, and has a slight character you get from NG RT, but it fades and you realize it isnt as full or intesne- has some other apple hints and some grassiness to it as well. Flavor starts off nice with a nice tart raspberry and very fruit juicy, then fades, gets a bit papery, yeasty, doughy, with some light cracker malts in the backbone, and finishes very dull and a slight citric acid finish whcih doesnt seem like it belongs. Meh.

bottle shared by Dickinsonbeer. Murky reddish brown in color with a small head. Aroma has alot of sweet rasberry jam, with musty caramel malts, and some weird hops. Taste is sweet rasberry, sugar, lightly musty caramel malts- as well as some weird floral hop character. the fresh rasberry part of it was nice, otherwise, kind of strange.

A "pretty" beer but lacking a little in the substance category. Sweet raspberry flavor gets a little heady towards the bottom of the glass.
