Commercial Description:
St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout consistently beats out international stouts in blind tastings and competitions. This intensely black ale carries strong hints of espresso and chocolate. The oatmeal contributes body and ensures a long-lasting mocha-coloured head. If you like stout, you will love St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout.

Bottle shared by mmtmatrix. Poured a full dark brown color with a moderate beige head that receded to a layer and left good lacing. Aroma of light chocolate, and some espresso-like coffee and cream. Smooth, moderately creamy entry with some light chocolate leads into a light coffee flavor with some moderate roastiness on the finish. Smooth, light on the palate. Pretty nice for a 5% stout. Thanks Malcolm.

12oz, really surprised this is rated 4, its really good make no mistake, but its not phenomenal, its a black beer which smells like chocolate, the body is thin and carbonated its super easy drinking and tastes like a foreign stout, easy to "gulp"

Black with thick foamy espresso head that thins quickly as coats glass. Smokey roasted espresso aroma. Smokey roasted chocolate espresso flavour with a very dry after-taste.

4/27/08: Sampled in the presentation tent at WBF Raleigh. Dark black with a very large brown head. Strong oat aroma with banana and spice. Taste of oats, coffee, caramel. Light smokiness. Thick and chewy texture. Tongue-coating. 7/3/8/4/16/3.8

Rerate: 5/31/08... Bottle from Wine Warehouse in Charlottesville. Very dark pour with a one finger brown head, low head retention and no lacing. Sweet malty and nutty aroma with notes of oatmeal and a subtle smokiness. Taste is bitter coffee with the oats coming later. Just enough smoke to not be offensive to my rauschbier hating self. Yum. 6/3/8/4/15/3.6

Black with huge light brown head. Sweet aroma with roasted malt, caramel, coffee and chocolate notes. Flavor has good complexity and goes the same way.

Definitely a dark pour, especially for a 5% beer. Nice generous mocha-colored head (ha... I swear I just read that in the beer’s description after writing this!) and great lacing, too. First impression of the nose was a hoppy and oatmealy nose. Expresso, too, and roast, as well as something almost fruity. Sweet. Nice complexity on the palate, with a finish that brings back some malty sweetness and that almost fruity thing. Very good. I think I can pretty confidently say it’s the most complex 5% beer I’ve ever had.

34.1 cL bottle. Pours dark brown to black with a dense chocolate brown head. Heavy roasted mlt, light chocolate and dry oat aroma. Light smoked note too. Light mouthfeel yet with a light creamy texture. Flavour is dry malt with a solid roasted note and light smoked flavour on top. Mild roasted malt and chocolate blend into the finish with a biter hops and acidic note following. Impressive for a 5% brew.

Black in color with a thick brown head. The aromas are of chocolate, maple syrup laced oatmeal and anise. In the mouth it is medium-bodied and light on its feet with lots of carbonation. The flavors are similar to the nose and finishes tart with a slight dryness. I was hoping for more body and concentration of flavor.
