Smells and tastes of roasted malts, coffee and chocolate. Nice slightly syrupy texture, with light carbonation and relatively low abv make this an easy drinker. Delicious, will drink again. | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Mar 21, 2008 Man, The color is amazing even when it pours or slides down the glass its this consistent sexy darkness. The flavor is yummy oak and sweet and bitter chocolate , malts each taking tuns at you mouth. I never cared much for stouts because of the bitter bite I associate with them, but this gives you the RICH rich sweetness that makes the bitter welcome. ToadMan (554), Washington, Washington DC, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 20, 2008 Rich dark color with big thick chocolaty head. Big roasted malt/mocha aroma. Lots of roasted, almost smokey malt strong tones of roasted coffee, finishes lightly bitter. Rather thin and too much roasted coffee for my tastes. Good, but doesnt accentuate the flavors I look for in a stout. gunhaver (1025), Tampa, Florida, USA

Fluffy, soapy tan head that slowly melts away. Cotton-candy like lacing. Aroma is real doughy. Some coffee, brown sugar. Slight, distant molasses. Has a thin malty body. Fresh dough flavors, roasted wet malts, chalky aftertaste. Meh. Very thin-bodied, watery finish. Disappointed. yesyouam (589), Fairport, New York, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 17, 2008 St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout is a brownish black ale with a thick, dense, light brown head that leaves great lacing. The aroma is slightly sweet with oats, grain and chocolate. It is medium-full bodied, pretty smooth, slick from the oats and the finish is crisp. The flavor is resiny, wooden and smoky. I didn’t detect the smoke element in the aroma, but it’s sure there in the taste. There is a slight chocolate presence and it’s well blended. It’s a good example of an oatmeal stout. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 14, 2008 bottle courtesty of masonher (this one at least)..... pours a spritzy dark brown almost black with brown hues at the edges. not really much of a head, but some does accumulate towards the edges..... nose made up of sour lactose and chocolate malt, just a bit of roast..... flavors remain consistent but it’s that sourness that puts me off. mouthfeel was also pretty thin. lacks the robust flavor that i was expecting..... jeremy, did you give me an off bottle? bastard!! mcbackus (738), Merritt Island, Florida, USA
