Commercial Description:
St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout consistently beats out international stouts in blind tastings and competitions. This intensely black ale carries strong hints of espresso and chocolate. The oatmeal contributes body and ensures a long-lasting mocha-coloured head. If you like stout, you will love St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout.

12 oz. bottle from Hogtownharry, thanks dude! Pours ebony and opaque with the faintest garnet highlights, and a thin to non-existent head. Smooth, roasty malts, a bit of lactose and sweetness, light chocolate notes. Sweetish, roasty with light charcoal notes and bitter chocolate, dark coffee and milky. Full body and gentle carbonation.

bottle courtesty of masonher (this one at least)..... pours a spritzy dark brown almost black with brown hues at the edges. not really much of a head, but some does accumulate towards the edges..... nose made up of sour lactose and chocolate malt, just a bit of roast..... flavors remain consistent but it’s that sourness that puts me off. mouthfeel was also pretty thin. lacks the robust flavor that i was expecting..... jeremy, did you give me an off bottle? bastard!!

3-8-08 bottle thanks to Miketd
Thin dark brown in color with very little head. Subtle smell of roasted malt. Taste is slightly burned malt. It has a nice sweetness but also contains some ash in there as well. Body is quite average and doesn’t do a whole lot for me. A bit too watery for my liking in a stout. I just wasn’t that impressed with this one.

Bottle courtesy of miketd. Thanks!
Pours black with a nice creamy and fizzy tan head. Smell is light coffee, perhaps some milkiness and oatmeal. Taste is dark roastiness, and moderate strength flavorful coffee, with medium body and carbonation. Slight creamy milky underlying flavor to it, but still I’d like it to be a touch richer in body. Very good all around and quite drinkable.

pours inky dark brown. big roasty aroma, oily, chocolate, burnt bread. a little sweet though mostly big dry roasty flavors. black coffee. emphasis on roasty. a little simplistic flavor-wise, but very solid, enjoyable. i also like that it’s 5%.

Trade from Tertons, thanks man! Pours a black color with light brown head. Aroma is milk chocolate, light roasted malt, and mild hop aroma. Taste is milk chocolate, milk sugars, light roasted coffee and chocolate malt. Creamy finish and light on the tongue. Good stuff!

Pours a dark black with a medium mocha head and a small amount of lacing. Aroma is dark roasts, espesso, and semi-sweet chocolate. Taste is coffee, and sugary sweet chocolate. Very good stout. Would be perfect if the finish wasn’t as flat.
