kruddov (5), Quebec, Canada does not count Jul 19, 2007 First stout i ever tried, and immediately loved it.. since I have tasted many others but none have defeated this one. Pours a thick and dark brown like any other stout but with a darker head than most others. Taste is a good balance of roasted coffee and chocolate and not too bitter, quite smooth actually.. another one of quebecs gems williamalmas (7), Ontario, Canada does not count Jul 18, 2007 This was the very first beer that made me realize how beautiful a stout can be. Prior to trying this, I had only had Guinness which resembles nothing of the same flavour of an Oatmeal Stout. Of course that was when I became legal age to drink and since then I have tried many many stouts, but when I tasted this one I decided I had to make an Oatmeal Stout at home... since then I have been brewing one for nearly 3 years. TheCheeseMan (538), Saint Cloud, Florida, USA Jul 12, 2007 Pours an opaque ebony color, head is a dark, murky tan that seems to hover magically on top of the beer. Aroma is coffee, dark roasted coffee with wisps of chocolate peeking thrugh. Flavor is a symphony of intensity, with the coffee seemingly the dominat flavor here. I need more!!!! bilchak (45), Ohio, USA Jul 8, 2007 Updated: Sep 11, 2007great outmeal stout. strong coffee and chocolate overtones. had on tap at the saint john alehouse in saint john, new brunswick. great brew. Storm (2685), Amager, Denmark Jul 7, 2007 33 cl bottle. Tasted at home. Dark allmost black colour with a nice little head. Aroma of sweet chocolate and sweet caramel. Nice tasty flavour of coffee, chocolate and someway a touch of sourness. Ends up quite dry and little bitter. Ron (1002), Rochester, New York, USA Jul 6, 2007 Got this day 2 in Montreal at a little dive of a quickie mart on Rue Ontario on way back to holtel during a driving rainstorm for $2.99 for one 12 oz bottle. (Jazz festifel going on next door was probable cause for jacking up prices)
This poured a dark thick tan head that stayed a long time. Pitch dark brown thick body. This had a good sweetness to it with a nint of coffee. I enjoyed this alot. GreenWall (53), Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada Jun 22, 2007 Updated: Feb 11, 2009Re-rate pending. I just need to clean up and type out my new notes. For now suffice it to say this is world class. caesar (3020), Bunnik/Utrecht, Netherlands Jun 18, 2007 Dark color, short brown head. Aroma of rye, roasted malt, some dried fruit, quite stouty, bit earthy. Bitter coffee taste, roasted malt, some mocha. Quite dry. Nice strong taste.
