JesseM (661), Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada May 25, 2007 Updated: Jun 22, 2008WOW. Pours an almost totally black colour with a tiny glimmer of ruby in the bottom of the glass. The head is grey/brown and is very think, it leaves really nice lacing on the glass. Smells mostly of malts, mocha, coffee, chocolate. Taste is a lot of mocha and bitter dark chocolate malts, but also a touch of oats, with some smokiness. Nice oily mouth-feel, with a thick, full body. After finish is mostly lingering bitterness, with a delicious malty after-taste (definitely some molasses in there too). Really quite an amazing brew! Theis (3617), Denmark May 25, 2007 Bottle at home - shared with Mette. Black - light brown head. Aroma: Chokolate, coffee, roasted, hops. Taste: Burned, roasted, chokolate, coffee, nice but sharp hoppy. Light watery body. Ok smooth mouthfeeling. Bitter finish. porterhouse (1148), Alna, Maine, USA May 23, 2007 (341 ml bottle (best before 4/30/09) from <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/Place/nova-scotia/halifax/premier-wine-and-spirits-boutique/3832.htm target=blank>Premier Wine and Spirits) Elegant and tasty...Pours very dark coffee brown with three fingers of sturdy mocha head. Aroma of espresso, milk chocolate and dark chocolate. Mouthfeel very smooth but some light prickliness. Feels quite full but not quite chewy. Nicely formed rings of lacing. Flavor is rich espresso with hints of chocolate towards finish. Coffee flavor is strong but not overpowering. Somewhat bitter but the oatmeal and overall texture of the beer seem to dampen it. Quite damn drinkable. toulstrup (15), Maalov, Denmark May 21, 2007 Bottle. Darkbrown almost black color with a tan foam. Aroma is strong coffee / espresso and dark chocolate with a hint of roasted coffeebeans and a burnt bitterness. Flavor is roasted and burnt with notes of coffee and dark chocolate and a nice bitter finish. Full body, creamy, thick feel and a long bitter finish. macallen (1), rawdon, Quebec, Canada does not count May 17, 2007 great well rounded beer, lots of maltiness, smooth, and pour with a great head that lasts mgumby10 (1844), Jupiter, Florida, USA May 16, 2007 Courtesy muenster. Pours a dark night black with a light fizzy brown head. The smell is actually quite mild. Some sweetness, roastiness, and light chcocolate seem to show up just enough to make an impact on my nose. Very creamy and roasty first off. Just a touch of some hopiness to it somewhat balances it out quite nicely. i’m not really getting a ton of oatmeal, which came as a bit of a surprise. Very nice for # 400 for me. jason (1620), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA May 13, 2007 Bottle. Thanks to OKBeer for sending me this. Dark black pour with nice head. Aroma is chocolate, sweet creamy malt, a nice coffee aroma. Flavor has a light sugary mouthfeel, slightly bitter, very smooth. Good Stout. gnoff (3560), Göteborg, Sweden May 12, 2007 (341 ml bottle, purchased at Ölbutikken, Copenhagen, Denmark) Black color, big bubbly brown head. Sweet chocolate dipped raissin mixed with red wine scent. Strange mix that for me is part nice and part yucky. Very roasted and burnt taste with some coffee, rather dry at first that turns to very dry in the end. Thin mouthfeel at first that dries up fast, all the salive dissapears. Medium high bitterness.
