CharlesDarwin (1822), Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA Nov 29, 2006 Chalky, deep charred roast sugar and grain aroma. Bold, yet straightforward and a little strong in the unyielding roast oat presentation. Pitch black, with a super creamy soap of coffee mousse. Flavor is a heavy hand of roast, and cofee, with brown sugar trailing behind. Thinner then I expected, but probably right on for 5%. Lots of molasses and some sour salty oat quality. Not sublte or particularly quiet. Somewhat evaporative. Roast graduates to some sour and salt. Still a lot of flavor for this beer, with all the good stout things one would want. jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA Nov 28, 2006 From a 341 ml. twist off bottle with a short blurb on the back label, no freshness date.
Poured a dark chocolate brown with a foamy, creamy tan head, good retention and a fair amount of laced sticking.
Aromas of chocolate covered dark fruit, a little banana bread, and subtle coffee.
Good moderate carbonation and crisp, velvety smooth medium bodied mouthfeel.
Tastes of roasted malts, coffee and chocolate, with a nice oatmeal sweetness, a light fruitiness with some mocha towards the end, a very soft hop bitterness and a sweet, roasted malty finish.
One of the best oatmeal stouts I’ve personally tasted, really nice on cold November day, easy, quaffable drinkability, very recommended.
Acquired in a trade with Sammy, many thanks for this one!

Thanks Lubiere for sharing! Pours a deep, opaque black color. Medium creamy tan beige head that lasts half-inch thick al the way to the end of my pint and leaves some lacing. Aroma is fruity and buttery. Taste is of coffee, some tobacco, slightly chocolaty, bittersweet, multi layered. Mouthfeel is medium to thick, silky, creamy. Gentle but firm and lasting aftertaste. sliffy (1966), Columbus, Ohio, USA Nov 16, 2006 Bottle thanks to madsberg: Black pour with a small tan head. Aroma of oats, coffee and chocolate. Flavor, sweet up front, with oats, rich malts and chocolate. Leading to a bittersweet finish. Nice and creamy, a little sticky on the tail end. I’ve wanted to try this for a long time and it was worth the wait. KariCupcake (214), Lenox, Massachusetts, USA Nov 13, 2006 I would like a cookie like this. Oatmeal flavor in a black as all get out color. Yum! aobecksy (661), Middle of no where, Ohio, USA Nov 13, 2006 And Sammy redeams himself with a formidable drink. Cheers.
Dark brown, a little light in the head with a thin body but a tickling tang on the tongue with a creamy intensity of coffee and very dark chocolate--utterly decadent. A sensation you could get lost in. fonefan (10868), VestJylland, Denmark Nov 12, 2006 Bottle. Black color with a tall big brown head. The nose is of sweet, creamy chocolate, oats, bright coffee, milk, and almonds. Licorice, oats, raisins, and soft coffee are present in the mouth. This flirts with the definition of a sweet stout. This is mild throughout but still complex and extremely well balanced.
