Commercial Description:
St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout consistently beats out international stouts in blind tastings and competitions. This intensely black ale carries strong hints of espresso and chocolate. The oatmeal contributes body and ensures a long-lasting mocha-coloured head. If you like stout, you will love St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout.

On tap at Bar Volo. Beautiful black body with a light brown, creamy head. Great aroma of chocolate and coffee, spices, moderate hops and a bit of roasted malt. The flavour, which is pretty much perfect, consists of coffee, chocolate and all the other stuff I mentioned that was in the aroma. The palate is very smooth and creamy. An excellent stout and one of the best in my opinion.

Bottle courtesy of boutip. Pours opaque with an average brown fizzy head, diminishes, spare lacing. Aroma is average malt (caramel, nutty, roasted), light hops (flowers), heavy yeast (dough, leather) with notes of oats and sour milk. Light sweetness, heavy bitterness, moderate acidity, heavy roasted coffee malt and sour yeast. Full bodied, spicy texture, minerals at the end.

Poured very dark. What came out first to me with the smokey/roasted flavors. A little bit of chocolate and coffee in there made for a very nice and smooth Oatmeal Stout

Big black pour with smallish head. Roasted malt, dried fruit coffee and anise dominate the aroma and taste. Nice hoppy bitter finish. Decent lacing throughout. Nice roasted coffee in there as well.

This beer formed a small sized medium brown head with fine-medium sized bubbles that mostly dissipated. The body was opaque and uncarbonated with a black hue. The nose was lightly malty, chocolate and coffee. The flavor was that of chocolate notes and roasted coffee that left a slight aftertaste. The mouthfeel was smooth and the lacing was average. A little too much of a coffee taste for me.

Thanks to Rastacouere for sending this to me! Pours midnight black. No light is creeping through this thing. Moderate foamy tan head. Nose is roasted malt, some lighter coffee and wood notes. Very pleasant coffee-ish and burnt taste. Very smooth but a little oily feeling on the palate. Nice roasted malt finish. Very good beer, but I think a tad overrated.

Tap@Resto-Bistro Saint-James, Quebec City. Pitch black beer with a strong brown head. The aroma is well roasted and the flavour is deeply hopped, roasted and strongly bitter. Overall a nice stout.

Tar-like pour with some dark red accents with a thin, but ever present mocha head, decent lacing. Bittersweet chocolate aroma, with some burnt roasted marshmallow accents. Flavor has some bittersweet chocolate notes with french roasted coffee on the back end. Has a very roasted, smoked back end with some hop bitterness filtering through. Simple, yet complex. Thanks to Aurelius fro bring this gem back from Canada.
