Commercial Description:
St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout consistently beats out international stouts in blind tastings and competitions. This intensely black ale carries strong hints of espresso and chocolate. The oatmeal contributes body and ensures a long-lasting mocha-coloured head. If you like stout, you will love St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout.

12oz bottle. Pretty thick pour. Opaque black color. Head was thick and light brown with good retention and lacing. Looked pretty much as good as a stout can look. Pleasant aroma of vanilla, subdued brown sugar, burnt caramel, and a whiff of dark chocolate. Dry and medium bodied with moderate carbonation. I tasted roasted malt and dark chocolate. There was some light roasty bitterness at the end which kept things interesting.

Bottle at Fogg N’ Sudds in Vancouver. Poured an extreme black with a large thin to light brown head, more characteristic of an imperial stout. Little to no smell or I guess I have a codl. Chocolate bitter and malty taste, overall decent but not the best I’ve had. After reading other reviews I’m wondering if i got a skunked bottle somehow.

Black colored with big beige head. Extremely rich aroma with vanilla, roastiness, coffee, fine smoke, excellent aroma. Medium bodied. Flavor is rather roasted and caramelly with coffee still here, aftertaste turns to berry one.

Dark color, short brown head. Aroma of rye, roasted malt, some dried fruit, quite stouty, bit earthy. Bitter coffee taste, roasted malt, some mocha. Quite dry. Nice strong taste.

Bottle, thanks so much to robinvboyer! DELICIOUS! Pours dark black and nice and viscous. Nice brown and creamy head. Lacing is phenomenal. Smell is nice with tons of chocolate flavor. Tongue is chocolate, sweet coffee, oats, wood, and some nice residual sweetness and a good balance of hops. I even notice some hints of smoke. Great stout. I want more!!

My top beer for 2002. Pours like dirty oil. I like that in a stout. Found the flavour comparatively dry and almost smokey or burnt/espresso. Very smooth and enjoyable. Black, of course, and thick dark head. Never get tired or this. Like drinking candy from a bottle.

half a year past it’ s due date. Bottle from ølbutikken enjoyed at home. pours somewhere between black and very dark brown, brown head that doesn’t seem entirely stable. strong aroma of coffeee, roasted malts, toffee, chocolate, faint banana milkshake. very very strong flavor, more than full bodied, starts out slightly sweet and chocolaty and ends superdry heavily roasted without becoming burnt. aftertaste very dominated by roasted malts and other roasted stuff. palate is real nice, thick brew, but strangely, somehow it feels a little watery too. Overall it is absolutely amazing that someone gets this much flavor out of a brew at only 5%. If i had to guess, i’d put the ABV at 10% and guess this was an imp.stout or something. for a 5% beer we’ve got unbeliveably intense flavor and aroma. and i though guinness was amazing for a "low alc", blah. this is the real stuff.

Biggish creamy brown-beige head. Nearly opaque black body goes dark red at edges. Soft milky caramel aroma with hoppy notes, very harmonic. Mild acidic-dry milky caramel taste develops into a gorgeous smoky harmonic roasty hoppy aftertaste. Mild and drinkable, and very well balanced. (0.275l draft at Le Barbare, Montreal, under the name "Tiguidou Stout".)
