| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 3, 2009 Appearance: Pours a dark brown, near black body with a frothy, light tan head.
Smell: Roasty, oat-encrusted aroma with notes of unsweetened chocolate and coffee, along with a small whiff of black licorice.
Taste: Pleasing mixture of cold, black coffee, creamy steel cut oats, and chocolate. Medium-low amount of sweetness. Lesser tastes of licorice and vanilla. Faint fruitiness. Earthy, roasty bitterness. Further taste of roasted barley and a light pinch of good, clean soot on the dry finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Decidedly creamy mouthfeel.
Drinkability: Recommended. As an oatmeal stout charged with plenty of flavor and yet still manages to maintain a reasonable ABV%, I’d say it’s got a damned high degree of drinkability. 1FastSTi (2569), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA

Aromas are chocolate, vanilla, molasses, oatmeal, and grassy hops. The flavor is a creamy dark chocolate, burnt coffee malts, oatmeal, and grassy hops. The palate is creamy, thick mouthfeel, and smooth. Good, but I’ve had better stouts. Nate (2554), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 5, 2005 Sweet chocolately malt, coffee and licorice. Deep roasted, almost burnt smoky bitterness of hops. A nice tang to the nose. Dark black with thin creamy tan lacing head. Heavy watery body, thick but not quite oily. Medium-heavy carbonation. A chewy beer. Starts dry and bitter. Carbonic acidity. Bitter roasted malt taste, with coffee, smoke, chocolate. Dry throughout. Tint of sweetness in the middle. Light bitter finish with some nutty bitter after and a mild carbonic tang. Nice stout. pivo (2537), Germany
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Dec 4, 2002 Whoa, is this a powerful beer. Starts with an intense aroma of chocolate, coffee and brandy. A top an opaque brown body is a brown head of tight small bubbles. Extremely bitter taste with a tight dry finish that ends like a strong espresso in the sides of the mouth. Not as thick as expected, but overall a great beer. I used to get this stuff readily and liked to make my famous stout pancakes from it. jgb9348 (2511), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA

Smells of oatmeal, roasted malt and a bit of coffee! Medium-bodied. Coats the mouth, bitterness is great, strong sweetness & roasted malt (oatmeal) flavour. Aftertaste bittered from the roasted characteristics, but very nice! Sweet notes in the finish as well. A great beer all-around! I had this pint on draught at the Winking Judge in Hamilton, Ontario with Josh (Oakes) and Scott (Publican) on 13-September-2003. GregClow (2499), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Deep black colour with a big, creamy head the colour of chocolate milk that leaves nice lacing. Aroma of roasted coffee, bittersweet chocolate, and some whiskey notes in the background. Big and creamy in the mouth, absolutely luscious. Amazing array of flavours - coffee, malt, chocolate, vanilla, bourbon - all leading to a perfect touch of hops in the finish. A world class beer. Since I didn’t have breakfast this morning I thought an Oatmeal stout would be a great first beer of a long session. Pours black with a beautiful half inch tan head. Aromas of coffee, molasses, vanilla and cocoa. The flavor is a tremendous blend of all of the things that I picked up in the aroma. Very smooth and creamy on the palate and just the right consistancy maybe from the oatmeal to coat your mouth and make it a smooth drinker. A very good beer and a nice choice for number 200! Huge roasted coffee/chocolate aroma that lets you know what you are in store for. Huge taste that is even more intense than the aroma. Roasted taste lasts for minutes after the last sip. Certainly a brew that is meant to be sipped by itself. Thanks DougShoemaker!
