Commercial Description:
St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout consistently beats out international stouts in blind tastings and competitions. This intensely black ale carries strong hints of espresso and chocolate. The oatmeal contributes body and ensures a long-lasting mocha-coloured head. If you like stout, you will love St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout.

Black, with a big, dark brown head; potent roast aroma with slight alcohol and faint Ringwood yeast notes (all that black malt and they still can't kill it!); intense roastiness, very dry, hops in the back; has probably the biggest black malt note of any beer I know; bitter chocolate; big, fat, dry - absolutely decadent.

Almost perfect stout, perfect marriage of flavours, smooth taste, full body. Malt, hop, roasted barley...
A classic.

Black with huge light brown head. Sweet aroma with roasted malt, caramel, coffee and chocolate notes. Flavor has good complexity and goes the same way.

(9/18/03): At last, a full bottle all to myself, not to share with a soul, just me me me. And no distraction of a many-beer tasting, just one man and one beer. Motor oil pour with a mocha brown head. Aroma is chocolate, light coffee. Taste is unsweetened coffee, and that's just not a flavor that sits well with me. Creamy medium/full body.

Almost opaque black small expresso head. Light roasted aroma with some lactose in it. Roasted, a bit hoppy, coffeish. Finish is average, but this is really pleasant oat meal stout.

LCRBM2. Black beer with thin dark beige head. Liquorice flavour, juicy tarry but subtle in the mouth. Dry on end. Yep, very dry stout which is quite satisfying. 3.4/5 Re-rate at Stellas Tap, Vancouver Had the whole bottle to myself. Rich and satisfying full dark malt flavours with some liquorice. Perfect after dinner drink

It’s a pitch black beer with a huge, creamy and light brown head. The aroma has lots of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee. The flavour is smooth and round, but it also has a bitterness from the hard roasted malt, a light sourness from the oats and notes of chocolate and coffee. The finish is incredibly long and the flavour is developing from start to the end. It’s impressive that all that taste can be found in a beer with only 5% - well done!!! 1719

Bottle. Pours a pitch black colour with a nice big creamy rocky light brown well lasting head leaving a good lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, smoke, biter chocolate, coffe and some liquorice. Good mouthfeel though I suspected a more creamy one. The flavour has a very pleasant roastiness with chocolate, coffee, oat, some smoke and dark fruits, The finish is quite roasty with some bitterness and coffee. A good stout but rather thin. It needs more body.
