Commercial Description:
St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout consistently beats out international stouts in blind tastings and competitions. This intensely black ale carries strong hints of espresso and chocolate. The oatmeal contributes body and ensures a long-lasting mocha-coloured head. If you like stout, you will love St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout.

Pour jetblack with nice milk chocolate head...smell is heavily dark coffee with light notes of cocoa...something perfume-like too...taste is rich coffee and notes of cocoa throughout...a little fizzy, and somehow I think this is over-rated...delicious, just not astoundingly so...I would drink this everyday if it was available though...tiggmtl big ass thanks!!

I love this style of Stouts. A sweet aftertaste, not so roasted grain flavours but nice, special foam with a yellow line in the top. Like water layers on it while looking against the light.

8/09/2007: St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout is opaque and black (and if not true black than close to it!). The head is dense, foamy, and brown in color. The aroma has chocolate, molasses, oatmeal, and sherry to it. The flavor is dry and ashy with some mild chocolate and a dry coffee finish. It is also slightly sour and burnt tasting. The body of this beer is medium and it seems a bit watery on the palate. Overall I found St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout to be uninspiring. Either I have completely missed something in this beer or I got a bum bottle. Otherwise, I’m not sure why it’s so hightly rated...

Beautiful chocolate & oatmeal nose; black w/ a large tan head, this is an incredibly dry finishing beer. Very nice.

Bottle courtesy of golubj. Very nice looking pour with a dark brown color and a light brown head. Aroma was quite sweet with a lot of chocolate, vanilla, caramel with a very light roasted presence. Flavor was much more balanced than the aroma, but there was still alot of sweetness, that did not seem to work too well. More smokey and roasted elements than the aroma foreshadowed. Maybe I was not in the mood for it, but this did not quite connect with me.

Bottle. A brown frothy head that grabs the glass on the way down. Intense roasted coffee flavors that are well balanced with the smooth oatmeal fueled body. Finishes long dry and bitter

0.34 l bottle. Black color with creamy tan head. Sweetish and mellow aroma with coffee, hay and caramel. The flavor is sweet, a bit sugary, coffeish, caramelly and toffeish. Candy-coffee finish.
