There is a chewy smoked malt flavor with a chalky more bitter finish. This is a well-crafted Stout. frankenkitty (1903), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 2, 2006 A viscous pour produced a black-bodied brew with a reverse-cascade forming a creamy, dark tan head that lasted and laced. Burnt coffee roasted aroma with milk chocolate gets me salivating. Additional wort and buried alcohol. Heavy and oily mouthfeel with a well-roasted, bitter flavor. Finish feel is dry with a finish flavor that is both sour and buttery... yet the lingering impression reverts to bitter coffee and dark chocolate. Awesome... I needed a good beer!

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 20, 2004 Thanks to Boutip for this brew. Opaque body, with a frothy tan head. Oatmeal, Copper, Espresso, Hops dominate the aroma. Taste is very smooth, with evident chocolate, and oatmeal. A pretty darn good stout. jeffc666 (1897), Fairfax, Virginia, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 13, 2004 Pours a pitch black with a big fluffy tan head. It looks very inviting. The lacing is superb. The aroma is rich and malty, hints of coffee and chocolate with a good sweet malt backbone. A little bit of alcohol aroma can also be detected. The flavor is roasted malt that provides the initial bitterness then a little bit of hops. Coffee flavors dominate from about mid-swallow on. The body is full and creamy. This is an excellent stout overall, far above and beyond the typical run-of-the-mill stout. emacgee (1892), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 16, 2008 Tried this on several different occasions and was disappointed both times. Pours a dark brown/black brew with a one finger creamy tan head. The nose is sweet, earthy, smells like it would be "English", buttery, diacetyl?, kind of a turnoff. The flavor is very similar, buttery/diacetyl feel, lightly sweet, some light bakers chocolate and coffee. The mouthfeel wasn’t as full and smooth as I would have expected. Overal, I just didn’t really enjoy it. Beerdedone (1888), Croydon, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma of dark malts, coffee, light oatmeal, and notes of chocolate. Richly roasted flavor with chocolate, oatmeal, toasted grains and a touch of light smokiness. nearbeer (1885), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 22, 2008 Updated: Dec 9, 200811.5 oz. Two-finger lasting head leaves nice frosty lace. Aroma of very sweet coffee and char. Tastes of sweet coffee, charred wood, dry grain, and maybe a touch of sour milk. A bit much oatmeal and roast to be a really great stout. Medium-heavy body is nicely dryish, but a touch too rough with frothy bubbles. iowaherkeye (1885), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 13, 2007 341mL bottle from HogTownHarry, Best Before 30AVR08, April maybe? Thanks Harry. Pours a fairly thick black with a one finger brown head. Aroma of not so bitter roasted malts, chocolate, oatmeal, grain, and some toffee. Flavor is a lot more roasty than I would’ve thought from the aroma, , with all the other aromas coming through the same. Carbonation is just a tad sharp for the creaminess of this, medium bodied. Good stuff. Thank you Harry!
