Commercial Description:
St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout consistently beats out international stouts in blind tastings and competitions. This intensely black ale carries strong hints of espresso and chocolate. The oatmeal contributes body and ensures a long-lasting mocha-coloured head. If you like stout, you will love St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout.

Bottle from Hopscotch, thanks Eric. Aroma is fairly light, some oats, cream, roast. Lasting cover, some lacing. The flavor is chocolate, lactose, oatmeal and some molases. Full bodied with a creamy, slightly oily texture. Very good session stout.

Bottle from Beerhugger. Really nice stout!!! Deep black in color. Brown head fades down to ring the edge of the glass. Good lacing. Aroma is bittersweet, lots of deeply roasted malts involved. Bits of chocolate and coffee. Medium bodied. Very chocolatey and coffee in flavor. Smooth and rich mouthfeel. Very nicely done.

Tasted 7/31/08. 12oz bottle. Dark and brown hued. Ring of beige head. Aromas of vanilla and cocoa. Milk chocolate and fudge. Solid nose. Medium bodied and smooth. Sweet malts with a bitter lingering bitter coffee acidity. Mild effervescence, but the smoothness dominates. Slight dark chocolate and bitter coffee. Good rolling palate. Nice and smooth!

Pours dark and thick, with a nice dark brown head. Aroma is 100% chocolate malt. Medium bodied, could be maltier. Taste starts with coffee and chocolate, then moves into a nice pure chocolate malt taste with strong bittering through the finish. Leaves the mouth roasty. Suprisingly low alcohol for a taste this big.

Black body with a big stiff tan head - leaves viney lacing. Rich malty chocolate dominates the aroma, accompanied by bitter coffee and dark esters. Underwhelming flavor and mouthfeel, I was hoping for something a little thicker and sweeter. The flavor is nice though, featuring light chocolate and smooth coffee in the start, finished with bread and coffee bitterness. Medium mouthfeel.

Bottle. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma is sweet and roasted malt, with notes of coffee, sweet chocolate and dried cherry. A bit watery for a stout. Flavor starts with roasted malt, then sweet chocolate and fruit, and finishes on a nice bitter coffee note. Very good and very drinkable.

Bottle. Dark brown body wit a medium tan head. Roasted malt, tobacco and chocolate in aroma. Flavour is the same with some caramel and smoke to add. Soft and pleasant body.

Normally, I do not have much love for the oatmeal stout, however, this is an exception. Black color with a large coppery/brown head. Has a great roasted chocolate smell with some hints of mocha, or something like that and it even seems to have somewhat of a rye smell in the background. Seems to have some jim beam flavors in it to add to the thick malty chocolate coffee taste. An impressive beer to say the least.
