This is something that I have had my eye on since joining rb.com more than 3 years ago. Finally, I got a bottle of it. Pours out dark as night and the smell fills the surrounding area with oats and coffee and roasted malts. Taste is so good, so smooth, so rich and so malty. This one does a good job of not being overly sweet as some oatmeal stouts tend to be. A really nice, awesome stout and I am so glad I got another one of these at the house. Great brew, best regular stout I have ever had. BeerPrince (1701), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 4.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Mar 6, 2003 Awesome beer. Pours a tar like colour just like pancake syrup. Head is an incredible dark brown and huge. Great lacing follows. The aroma is full of oatmeal at first and then moves to coffee, chocolate and roasted nuts. Flavour is astonishing as it tastes like semi-sweet chocolate, rolled oats and coffee. The finish is chewy yet creamy with a fudge aftertaste that beckons you back for more. The best I've tried so far. Thanks Shorlin! SudsMcDuff (1695), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas, USA

Aroma is sweet and roasted malt, with notes of coffee, sweet chocolate and dried cherry. A bit watery for a stout. Flavor starts with roasted malt, then sweet chocolate and fruit, and finishes on a nice bitter coffee note. Very good and very drinkable. theisti (1680), Leawood, Kansas, USA

Pour is deep black with a mocha head with big carbonation bubbles in the solid foam. Beautiful in the glass. Aroma of roasted malt and some soft breadiness. Something else distinctive in the nose that I can’t quite but my finger on, candy sweetness almost - though more rounded? Taste has the roasted malt, taste has more coffee to it then nose had. There is also some nice mellow cocoa / milk chocolate sweetness and a bitter hop finish. The oatmeal really shows in the big, full body. This was a great stout, thanks Matt. 38 39 40 right at top of stout category. Thanks for this one Matt! sloth (1678), Ceciltucky, Co., Maryland, USA
