Poured a dark chocolate brown with a foamy, creamy tan head, good retention and a fair amount of laced sticking.
Aromas of chocolate covered dark fruit, a little banana bread, and subtle coffee.
Good moderate carbonation and crisp, velvety smooth medium bodied mouthfeel.
Tastes of roasted malts, coffee and chocolate, with a nice oatmeal sweetness, a light fruitiness with some mocha towards the end, a very soft hop bitterness and a sweet, roasted malty finish.
One of the best oatmeal stouts I’ve personally tasted, really nice on cold November day, easy, quaffable drinkability, very recommended.
Acquired in a trade with Sammy, many thanks for this one!

Tastes of chocolate malt, foamy roast, oatmeal, toffee, and vinous malt. Mouthfeel is full bodied with lush carbonation. Pretty enjoyable stout, a bit overrated though. A nice drinking brew, not overpowering, just right,Chocolate, roasted malt, hazelnut overtones, Nice! Thanks to Duane! MrBunn (1548), Western, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 7, 2008 Bottle. Pour is thick and black with a one finger tan head. Aromas are weak... a bit musty and with some oatmeal and dark malt. Oatmeal and dark chocolate come through strong in the flavor as does a bit of a peat/smoke flavor. Very nice balance and wonderful, thick mouthfeel makes this one a winner.

| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 8, 2008 bottle left at my house that used to belong to shyam... thick black pour topped by a medium brown head with reddish tints. unreal sheets of lacing left behind. the aroma is musty oats, smoke/astringency, licorice, wood, chocolate and umami. the palate is full of dark roasty grains, oatmeal, toasted nuts, chocolate and smoke. tart high roast finish with coffee and some banana like fruitiness in the finish. full body with a creamy texture as the carbonation gets worked up. astringency/acidity from the roast keeps the mouth feel interesting... very simple yet delicious and profound... | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 30, 2008 Bottle. Beautiful pour: dark black with a huge, thick and creamy dark tan head. Left pretty lacing on my pint glass. Aroma and taste predominantly of coffee, but also some oat, faint chocolate. Some bitterness, but certainly not as bitter as other stouts that I’ve had. Very good, very drinkable.
