Commercial Description:
St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout consistently beats out international stouts in blind tastings and competitions. This intensely black ale carries strong hints of espresso and chocolate. The oatmeal contributes body and ensures a long-lasting mocha-coloured head. If you like stout, you will love St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout.

Black as midnight. Thick chewy tan head that settles with a craters on the moon effect. A very nice nose of dark fruit, dark chocolate, and roasted notes. Flavor is dark chocolate with everything else secondary. A nice hop profile, coffee, and gobs of roasted notes. Figs, and plums. Finish was a bit thin. What a delightful stout!

Creamy tan-beige head on top of a pitch black beer. The oatmeal comes through in a nice rich creaminess in the palate. Aroma and flavor are mostly dominated by coffee. Quite nice.

341 ml bottle. Best by 30 Nov 06. Ebony espresso, brown crema. Woody molasses and salty licorice; French Roast and raisin. Tangy carb. Tart, sort of lemony. Coffee notes and apple juice. Light bitter drying with some nuttiness. Medium body. Restrained but well made.

Pours a dark brown/black color, moderate brown head, long lasting lace. Aroma is roasty, plenty of chocolate, malt, coffee, and enough sweetness from the oatmeal. An excellent full, round body delivers the great balance of sweetness and roastiness. Caramel, oatmeal, roasted malt, cocoa all complimenting each other. Another damn fine beer that lives up to its reputation.

Black w/ brown, creamy head. Lovely roasted malt aromas. Full-bodied and chewy. Wonderfully complex: moderately sweet w/ intense roasted malt flavours (coffee, chocolate). Dry, balanced hoppy finish. Fabulous beer.

2003 edition. Good roasty coffee aroma, some smokyness too. Jet black body with a nice tan head. Nice pleasant coffee roastiness, some sweetness. Is a bit thin in the mouthfeel but a decetn stout.
