| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 4, 2006 From a 12oz Bottle. Deep black, chocolatey murky pour with a marvelously sustaining head of deep toasty brown. Thick aroma of oatmeal - lots of oats present with a pleasant toasted character. A pinch of smokey characters as well, along with some dark chocolate tones. Light to medium bodied mouthfeel with a nice effervescence. Lots of flavor packed into a relatively light bodied beer. I love the subtle smoked character I’m getting. This beer has some niced chocolate, roasty, oatmeal, and even a touch of sour saltiness going on , which are fantasticly constructed and balanced, but are not powerful enough to blow me away. Quite delicious overall, and fabulously complex for the style. Thanks, Sammy! guzzler67 (1278), Hanover, Maryland, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 25, 2004 Jet black appearance with a huge creamy, tan head. Aroma shared the characteristics of roasted malts, semi-sweet chocolate and coffee. The pleasantly bitter taste also mimiced the flavors of chicory and toasted grape nuts. Well balanced with a robust, smooth, full-bodied palate. Dry, slightly metallic finish. Thanks to Tiggmtl for the bottle! heykevin (1269), Iowa City, Iowa, USA

Can’t seem to find it in Iowa anymore, heard rumours it wasn’t going to be imported into america anymore. Surely this can’t be true. Has anyone else heard these rumours? | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 5, 2003 Deep deep brown black under an awesome medium dark tan head which lasts well and generates a generous ring like lace most of the way down the glass. Surprisingly mild roasted malt aroma with hints of earth, coffee and chocolate. Surprisingly light, almost cola like thin, but wonderful velvety smooth body. Medium light roasted bitter malt and lighter milk sweetness flavours. Short medium bitter fresh finish and aftertaste. MI2CA (1266), Noblesville, Indiana, USA

Seriously though, tastes of roasted coffee and chocolate. What more can a man ask for in a beer. Surprisingly smooth and tasty for such a low alcohol beer. GRM (1262), Aylmer, Quebec, Canada
