Commercial Description:
St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout consistently beats out international stouts in blind tastings and competitions. This intensely black ale carries strong hints of espresso and chocolate. The oatmeal contributes body and ensures a long-lasting mocha-coloured head. If you like stout, you will love St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout.

Top shelf stout, this acts and feels much bigger than it really is. Opaque black/brown pour with a 1/2" brown head and moderate lacing. Filling aroma of boozy bourbon, hearty oatmeal and plenty of burnt malts. A smokey wood scent helps round out a wonderful aroma. Thick and creamy, big malty feel coupled by a brash bitterness that sticks with you. Tons of toast and burnt malt flavor. Earth, wood, chocolate and coffee assault the taste buds. A hint of rum and/or whiskey is present in the aftertaste. Great stout.

Got this day 2 in Montreal at a little dive of a quickie mart on Rue Ontario on way back to holtel during a driving rainstorm for $2.99 for one 12 oz bottle. (Jazz festifel going on next door was probable cause for jacking up prices) This poured a dark thick tan head that stayed a long time. Pitch dark brown thick body. This had a good sweetness to it with a nint of coffee. I enjoyed this alot.

Number 600! Bottle thanks to a trade with Boutip. Pours walnut-black in color with a minimal brown head. The aroma is strong with molasses and also has some burnt grain and a hint of metal. Enjoyable. The flavor is lively for a stout. Burnt grains, hints of metal, molasses and malt. Notes of charcoal. Perhaps some wood notes. Good. Medium body that is wet at first and finishes semi-dry. An enjoyable stout. I can see why this is a site favorite.

Bottled. Via trade with Degarth. Pours thick and black with a tan head. Wow, that’s fruity smelling! Dark fruits, chocolate, mangos. The aroma is pretty wild. Big roasted grain flavor with some burnt sugar, chocolate, bitter coffee, licorice and some smoke. Nice stout.

Bottle. Pours jet black with a nice tan head, receding slowly. Good lacing. Nose of coffee, with hints of banana esters and diacetyl. Moderately thin body, coffee/chocolate, not very sweet, some buttery/banana notes, harsh astringent finish ruins the experience. Disappointing to say the least.

Pours a pitch black color, small brown head, lots of lacing adorns the sides. Aroma is very rich, of milk chocolate, roasted coffee, and mocha. Flavor is similar, with a litlte added vanilla/cream note to it. Very slick and oily on the palate. Very tasty easy drinking brew! Thanks to RadioMGB for this one!

Bottle. Pours black with a short but thick tan head. Oaty, malty, chocolate nose. The espresso saves itself for the taste. Bitter chocolate and coffee with a sweet creamiiness. Licorice, molasses, and a roasty dryness comes with the finish. A bit thin in the body for the style, but still a really good beer.
