The aroma is very roasty and toasty with some alcohol notes and herbal hop fruit. The flavor is so smooth and mellow with the oatmeal along with tons of chocolate and coffee roasted mocha. Nice Oatmeat stout, this is good! Thanks Sham & David! Tmoney99 (4775), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

Poured clear brown color with an average frothy brown head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Solid roasted coffee and chocolate malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture. Medium roasted balanced flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Good, but my expectations where not met. anders37 (4760), Malmö, Sweden

Aroma has some roastiness but is not particularly pronounced. The colour is a fantastic black with a good head. The flavour also has some roasty notes but not enough for me for a stout. I was suprised to see it is a top 50 beer as I found it quite thin. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 28, 2005 Huge thanks to tiggmtl for this one. Pours obsidian with two-finger, dark tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocoff, slight smoked ham. Tastes roasty-malty, with chocoff, oats, and a definite rauchy element combined with some merlot. Complex, firm mouthfeel and very well balanced. I have no problem at all with this being a top 50/100 beer. I prefer Impy stouts, but the excellence of this one cannot be denied. ChristianScheffel (4632), Odense, Denmark

Good roasted coffee beans with some nuts and bitter choclate, and a nice hadful of hops. Body is good but less dense than in previous years.
