Commercial Description:
St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout consistently beats out international stouts in blind tastings and competitions. This intensely black ale carries strong hints of espresso and chocolate. The oatmeal contributes body and ensures a long-lasting mocha-coloured head. If you like stout, you will love St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout.

Bottle. Thick and very creamy brown good looking lasting head. Very dark red, only by means of my lamp I could see that it is not entirely black. Coffee aroma with citrus notes and choccolate. Relatively high bitterness and a bit thin mouthfeel. Long aftertaste of choccolate and hops.

Poured black with a small tan head. Roasted and smokey aroma and creamy chocolate.. Roasted malt flavor with a touch of smoke. Starts creamy but finishes with a fine carbonation.. Medium to full bodied.

Received a bottle via Secret Santa 07 and shared with group at Cellar’s Wine & Spirits in St Paul, Minnesota. Pours an opaque dark brown brew with a thick creamy head that quickly dissipates to a fine film. Aroma of smoked pork, roasted dark malt, some flowery hops molasses, and some chocolate. Taste is full bodied, light carbonated with a big taste of smoked beef jerky, roasted dark malt, some coffee and brown sugar. Finish remains the smoked malt aftertaste that finishes with a light coffee flavor.

Bottle BB July 2006.. extra thanks to turg! Poured a thick, oily black.. with deep brown highlights. A towering creamy caramel head and a great deal of intricate lacing were also present... just beautiful! Dark chocolate, espresso beans, mocha, and fresh oats blended for a phenomenal deep roasted nose. Flavors of bitter dark chocolate, freshly-ground coffee, and just lots of black maltage... beautifully roasted and complex, especially considering the low ABV. Smooth and perfectly dry on the palate... long roasted chocolate and coffee finish... lightly sweet. This is a most excellent brew!

Bottle (341ml). (Even better on nitro). Very dark, good thickish tan head, dark and earthy, sometimes almost burnt palate; aromas of chocolate, strong coffee, peat; the hops are there but humbled - way better than Guiness (especially the cheap Guiness we get in Canada) and for twelve bucks for a six at the beer store, a great deal. * re-rate Jan/08 - this is a wonderful beer, but I had it at 4.4 and that’s ... a wee bit too high.

nice chocolate lack color and taste. Thick consistency. Nice bittersweet chocolate/expresso aftertaste with a tad of sweetness.. Can sip and enjoy. Had later on draft-very smooth

Thick juicy stout, creamy coffee. It does represent classic set of aromas. Nice but I am not sure if deserve to be in top 50

Toronto Festival of Beer 2006 - Another one I have had a bunch of times but not re-rated. Black body, with a big mousse like head. Mild, sweet roasty malt aroma. Very light roast bitterness accents sweet malt and chocolate notes. Creamy medium palate. 7/5/7/4/15 - 3.8<P> Toronto Festival of Beer 2001 - Creamy and smooth with a roastyness that is on the sweeter side of stouts. The only stout I’ll drink without apprehension - I am not normally fond of stout. 6/3/6/5/13 - 3.3
