Strong flavours of dark chocolate and coffee. Great in winter. mtlbeerman (4), Montreal, Quebec, Canada does not count | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 16, 2006 12 oz bottle. Pours a black with a nice tan head. Coffee and chocolate flavours come through on this one. Very nice mild-bitteness in the finish. This is always a must have in my fridge. | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Feb 11, 2006 One of my all time favorites. Strong chocolate, coffee, and bitter nose. Slightly more carbonated than the stouts I’m used to. Truly complex. Gives me something new every time I return to the glass. Head is a beautiful soft brown and lasts fairly well. Great for my beer nerd friends as well as random guests. What did I ever do before this stout? markgugs (86), Wood Ridge, New Jersey, USA

A: pours a silky-looking, near jet black with an ample, frothy cream/tan head, beer leaves massive lacing all the way through. You know it’s going to be a good beer when you want to dive right in and take a bath in it!
S: Smells like fresh-baked oatmeal cookies and roasted maple syrup.
T/M: Whew! Just what I was hoping for from this beer...loads of ultra roasted bitterness that lingers forever and a day. Good baker’s chocolate flavorings mixed with dark cocoa and burnt coffee. Delicious. Classic oatmeal stout mouthfeel, good carbonation and a slick, oily finish.
D: Provided you enjoy the ample bitterness, this is a beer that should always be on hand in one’s beer fridge. Great beer. pacaus (49), Dublin, Pennsylvania, USA

Beautiful sweet oatmeal notes with a little coffee backing it on the nose. No real bitterness on the taste. Good oatmeal balance to a great stout favor. MrRoss (617), Delta, British Columbia, Canada

You can just smell the malt wafting up from the glass, with a hint of coffee as well. The taste was every bit as good as it looked. Delicious. mcberko (154), British Columbia, Canada

The aromas is coffee and chocolate. Palate is thick, heavy on oatmeal, coffee and a little chocolate. One of the best stouts out there, and one of Canada’s best. Best served slightly cooler than room temperature.
