| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 1, 2003 Finally got my hands on one of these, and what a worthwhile search it was. Pours dark brown, near black, with cappucino foam head. Bittersweet chocolate is the theme here, both in the nose and flavor. Chocolatey sweet malts present themselves in the middle, and roasty bitterness and hops balance out the finish. Well done. Mild astringency is present from the oatmeal, and on the whole this beer isn't quite as smooth as one might expect, but its still a top notch stout. Kaya161 (1129), San Diego, California, USA

Outstanding Stout, although I still like Sam Smith’s a little more. My only negative comment about this one is that the alcohol flavor was not hidden as well as it could have been (or do we call that ’bitterness’?). Roased aroma and nice coffee flavoring. Almost black with great lacing. I am going to try to hunt this one down again sometime. JohnC (2286), Mission Viejo, California, USA

HUGE thanks to slikwily for this beautiful beer. The pour is a creamy black with a tan creamy head that last quite a while. The aroma is all dark chocolate, rich and smooth. The taste is a delicious match with a chocolate and coffee flavor and a bitter chocolate aftertaste. Outstanding.
Two 2007 Bottles acquired in trade. Pour is absolutely lucious. Black matte with a luxurious head of frothy tan cream. Lace coats the glass. Aroma is really enticing, rich malted chocolate (like chocolate malt balls). The flavor is mild bitterness and rich chocolate. The body is perfect. I wish this was distributed to NY. My numbers were right the first time.
