Bottle from porterhouse - thanks, Kevin! Sweet and slightly sour roast aroma, some great funky-nutty Dunkel notes. Some dark candied fruit and an English ale yeast strain. Dry with slight bittering hops. Pitch pour with a GORGEOUS dark brown head, lacing and rocky and bubbly and spoonable. Strong smoked character with heavy roast. Predominately very dry with only the occasional flash of sweetness. Nutty with slight dark pitted fruit underneath. Burned notes from copious black malt. Touch of cocoa with lots of chocolate. Thin, watery body is usually a negative but makes this all the more sessionable. Very robust tasting but not over-the-top; manages to retain a high degree of complexity. Alcohol perfectly hidden and low enough to warrant a little binge. Light bitterness and nice and dark. Very high praise for this one: after over eighty stouts, this is one of my favorites.

for the stouts i can get in northern ontario, this is incredible. on tap is easily one of th best stouts Canada has to offer. very nice flavours of coffee, and chocolate, and smoke. beatiful coffee finish, and a nice bitterness to it. great beer.

Draught @ The Woolwich Arms, Guelph, ON: A solid stout that pours pitch black with a rich, tan head. I love lighter-drinking stouts and this fills that category well - initial taste is lighter than expected with heavy chocolate and espresso tones dominating, leading into the creaminess at the end likely associated with the oatmeal. There’s a lot going on in there, I’ll have to go grab another some time.<P> Draught @ TFOB: My first re-rank - tried this the first time a while ago on draught at the Wooly, but I’ve wanted to revisit what I recall was a low review. It was. This is probably the perfect stout, as it’s rating would indicate, it’s truly amazing. Don’t pass up the chance to have this one.

Aroma and and flavour of chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, licourice, and some fruits. Poured a gorgeous brown long lasting head. Absolutely excellent stout.

bottle left at my house that used to belong to shyam... thick black pour topped by a medium brown head with reddish tints. unreal sheets of lacing left behind. the aroma is musty oats, smoke/astringency, licorice, wood, chocolate and umami. the palate is full of dark roasty grains, oatmeal, toasted nuts, chocolate and smoke. tart high roast finish with coffee and some banana like fruitiness in the finish. full body with a creamy texture as the carbonation gets worked up. astringency/acidity from the roast keeps the mouth feel interesting... very simple yet delicious and profound...

341 ml bottle. Pours dark black with a mocha beige head. Strong notes espresso, coffee, chocolate . My favorite stout to date . Really good

My favorite of my favorite style. An extremely smooth and well-balanced oatmeal stout with a little less viscosity and a bit more carbonation than most making it easier to drink.

Man, The color is amazing even when it pours or slides down the glass its this consistent sexy darkness. The flavor is yummy oak and sweet and bitter chocolate , malts each taking tuns at you mouth. I never cared much for stouts because of the bitter bite I associate with them, but this gives you the RICH rich sweetness that makes the bitter welcome.
