This beer was already awesome pouring them out of near to a hundred bottles but now so much better. Super fresh on tap!
The pour is a 10. Black with no light penetration around the edges, thick soft brown cap that never fades and glues itself to the glass. The aroma is milky and more cherries??? creme du caramel. Sweet taste: creme du caramel, tart, dark fruit, chocolate, roasted malts, slight coffee, very very mild bitterness. Probably the smoothest thing on Earth. Leaves my teeth soooooo smooth. sinkhole (178), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 31, 2006 Excellent stout. Pours deep black with a smooth tan coloured head. Aromas of bakers chocolate, coffee, and hops present. The aromas continue through to the taste with a distinct bitterness that carries on through the finish. Surprisingly not as heavy as other stouts. wanderingman (54), Guelph, Ontario, Canada

Well it pains me to rate a stout this high as I am not a stout fan, but I must give credit where credit is due. Appearance is everything a stout should be, Think black body with a head that is VERY creamy and deep tan in colour. Aroma of chocolate, coffee and toffee. Taste a complex combination of bitter chocolate, toffee and heavy roasted coffee. Surprisingly easy on the aftertaste and not so heavy that I felt like I just ate an entire meal. It was the perfect stout. Drink4Satan (586), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Aug 30, 2008 Pours an oily black colour with a sturdy medium head. The nose is full nuances of berries with notes of sweet oats, ethyl lactate, cocoa and espresso. The flavour is robust, sweet and roasty, with rich chocolate and berries up front and roasted coffee and bitter hops in the finish. It is balanced, full-flavoured and full-bodied. The finish is long and the mouthfeel is creamy with perfectly matched carbonation. This stout coats tooth and gum. Delicious. BostonFox (26), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Kinda surprised to find this brew in this little hole in the wall....lucky me. Great, great looking stout man! Chocalat dominates the flavour with bitter coffee and hops in the finish. Much more enjoyable on draft. Tres bien! SamGamgee (1469), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jul 15, 2008 12oz bottle. Near solid black with a lasting frothy tan head. I’m amazed that this is only 5% alcohol; the amount of flavor and body almost put it in the imperial range. Big, rich caramel sweetness, chocolatey and roasted malt flavors. Finishes dry, with a firm, yet smooth roasty bitterness. Full and silky body. Smells of rich chocolate mousse. Everything just works. Bobsy (194), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 21, 2007 Updated: Oct 18, 2007I’ve had this before, but this rating is based on a pint my wife ordered at Beerbistro tonight. Nice dark body, with a thick tan head. You can’t get any more classical in appearance for this style. Smells of roasted malts and caramel. Chocolate and coffee tones in the flavour, compliment the malts. A very smooth drink, and highly recommended. elihapa (1069), Honolulu, California, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 20, 2008 Updated: Oct 16, 2008wow. Retried again: Aroma is a rich, malty-roasted sweet, with milk, oats, coffee, milk and dark chocolate, burnt toffee. Awesome, and unique. Palate is a touch thin, and quite carbonated. After letting this sit, the flavors really swing into high gear. This is no subtle beer, despite the lower alcohol. The balance and mouthfeel is so complex, with perhaps some dark chocolate, molasses, oatmeal, and roasted flavors. Dry finish, perhaps a bit light for a stout but great overall. Every tie I re-try this, I realize why this is my favorite stout of all time.
