Mar 16, 2005 Bottle thanks to ClarkVV! Pours a jet black with a big brown head which laces nicely. Fairly high in carbonation. Aroma is a deep burnt/smoked roasted grain smell with hints of coffee. Flavor is similar to the aroma with roasted grain coming to the top with hints of chocolate and coffee. Effervescence keeps the palate light and drinkable.

Jan 13, 2005 12 oz bottle thanks to an awesome Secret Santa. Almost opaque black with a nice compact tan head that lasted. Big sweet aroma that was as much fun to smell as to drink. Flavor was sweet and smooth, with the usual flavor profile, although one that was just perfectly balanced.
A stupendous stout!!

Jan 18, 2004 Updated: Jan 3, 2005Pours a beautiful jet-black colour with a dark brown head. Leaves a bit of nice lacing on the glass. Great nose of coffee, chocolate, and roasted malt. Very rich and chocolatey in the mouth with a nice bitter finish. This is a great one... puts Guinness to shame!

Mar 8, 2004 Very nice black stout topped with generous and creamy brown head. Incredible roasted malt, coffee and dark chocolate nose and long-lasting taste. For that price (around 1,60 CAD), this is undoubtedly the best tasting beer you can get!

Mar 28, 2005 Huge thanks to tiggmtl for this one. Pours obsidian with two-finger, dark tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocoff, slight smoked ham. Tastes roasty-malty, with chocoff, oats, and a definite rauchy element combined with some merlot. Complex, firm mouthfeel and very well balanced. I have no problem at all with this being a top 50/100 beer. I prefer Impy stouts, but the excellence of this one cannot be denied.

Sep 2, 2006 Nose is chocolate, coffee, and you can smell the oats; Opaque walnut with a small tan head; Flavor is of coffee and roasted malts with some nice hop bitterness into the finish.

Feb 2, 2006 The chocolate and espresso flavours are bold and delicious, but it’s the aroma and bouquet which make this beer so pleasent. Enjoy not only as tasty anytime beverage - also try adding some to your favorite recipe. Oh yeah!
